Are you into dinosaurs? Do you have a little dinosaur connessoir in your family? Will you be visiting Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, Tennessee? If the answer was yes to these questions, it would be worth your while to visit the Dinosaur Walk Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The Dinosaur Walk Museum is hard to miss because of the giant metal skeleton of a meat eater along Highway 441 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This building may not look like much from the outside, but the Dinosaur Walk Museum has done a good job of creating a Jurassic experience on the inside. With over 50 life-size dinosaurs and 20 reptile exhibits, you will get your admissions price worth. One of the first displays is a collection of taxidermied snakes-big ones. While these aren't exactly dinosaurs, they were interesting to see. Don't miss the next display, in the right corner, of an ultra small dinosaur, because your attention will be quickly drawn to the big ones towering over you and looming ahead on the right. The giant Sarcosuchus crocodile (over 40 feet long) leads the way to a bank of computers where the kids-and you-can learn about the continents of the past.

You will walk under and past an assortment of dinosaurs posed in settings and against backgrounds. The lighting is low to add to the affect. It is a humbling experience to walk under a life-size Tyrannosaurus Rex, over 42 feet long. They even have a sand filled fossil find, where kids can run their hands through the sand to find fossilized eggs or bones. Once you duck under the Pterodactyls, there is a nice surprise for everyone before you exit to the inevitable gift shop. The Dinosaur Walk Museum has a set of benches in front of a big screen, where you can sit and watch interesting and educational videos starring-dinosaurs.

This author's three year old grandson was totally amazed and excited by the experience-he is a dinosaur connoisseur. Hold little one's hands as you progress through the Dinosaur Walk Museum, because some of the dinosaurs may seem to just suddenly be there in the dim light and some of them roar unexpectedly. The videos are worth the watch, but little ones may have trouble sitting still. They want to get into that gift shop and see all the dinosaur merchandise. One gift shop selection this author can recommend is the magnetic dinosaurs. You get twenty of these colorful realistic looking dinosaur pictures applied to wooden backs with magnetic mats. They come in a nice wooden box with a Plexiglas slide top for storage. The neat thing is that they stick nicely to the refrigerator-instead of acting as toe trips on the floor-and they keep little fingers busy while adults are working in the kitchen.
