What's at the Dinosaur Exhibit?
You'll see 17 different dinosaurs, up close and very realistic looking. Younger children may be frightened of this exhibit, particularly of T-rex and his teeth. Use your best judgment with the 3 and under crowd. Older children will be fascinated with this outdoor exhibit, set in a nicely wooded section of the Oregon Zoo. The entrance is near the Sun Bear exhibit.
There are activities sprinkled throughout the attraction like a fossil dig, photo opportunities, interpretive signs, and a special zoo store called DinoStorus. The store offers a wide variety of dinosaur themed merchandise from toys to books to fossilized dinosaur poop!
Don't forget to take a group picture near the beginning. It's hard to miss: a half-sized t-rex that you can climb on and have your picture taken!
The dinosaur exhibit is a one-way path. You can spend as long as want in the exhibit; however, once you exit then you'll have to pay the extra admission to enter again. There is a restroom in the middle section of the exhibit, near the DinoStorus. Be sure to take water and snacks for the young members in your expedition.
What Else Can I See at the Oregon Zoo this Summer?
Come experience all the delights of the Oregon Zoo this summer including the new Red Ape Reserve. The Oregon Zoo's main sections are The Great Northwest, Pacific Shores, Fragile Forests, Asian Elephants, and Africa.
The varied zoo exhibits, train ride, summer concerts, eateries, and other events will be sure to delight your family this summer, making the zoo a very popular tourist destination in Portland. During summer months, the parking lot can fill up very early so consider taking MAX light rail.
