Dior Travel Studio Has Everything You Need in Cosmetics

Lori Leidig
The Dior Travel Studio has made me a happy woman. I have spent years trying to assemble the most compact set of cosmetics. Airlines are getting more and more picky about weight allowances, so my travel bags are becoming smaller and smaller to avoid paying those outrageous overage fees. Being a frequent traveler, I also find myself roaming the Duty Free shops in various airports while awaiting connections. Man I love those places. Since they know their clientele, they often have sets just for us. That is where I picked up this latest cosmetic kit by Dior.

The Travel Studio set comes with pretty much everything you need as far as cosmetics in one sleek, black case. I love most of the Dior line in both cosmetics and perfumes, so I figured this â'¬50 would be well spent. It was. I do not totally adore everything in the kit, but it is fine for short trips.

Mascara is a must for any woman, no matter how much other make-up she puts on, or not. Everyone pretty much at least needs this item. My favorite mascara is the DiorShow, but this kit chose to include Dior Ultimeyes instead. I do not care for it very much. I really have grown quite fond of the dry mascaras, and the Ultimeyes is a wet mascara, meaning you have keep your face all distorted waiting for it to dry or you will end up with black on your eyelids. I really hate that. but, it is ever so small in this kit so for the space-saving advantage, I deal with this on trips of a week or less. At least it doesn't dry hard like some other brands. It does tend to clump your lashes a bit tough, so keep a toothpick in the case.

The face powder is from the DiorSkin compact line and is in the Light Beige color, which works fine for my skin tone. I usually don't use powders as a rule, but if I am in a hurry to go play tourist, or just need a quick make-up refresher, I do use this. It isn't over-bearing on my face at all. It just tones down any shine without looking all fake like most face powders.

The Soft Powder Blush is Tahiti Pink, and let me tell ya... this is really pink. I usually prefer tans, brown, dark roses... colors like that. I kinda cringed when I saw this color. Still, I decided to give it a try and it just is not nearly as gaudy as I had feared it would be. In fact, I rather like it for care-free kicky-fun kinda days.

The Travel Studio also includes a Skin Corrector. Does Dior know us ladies or not? I'm tellin ya... where would I be without this gem of a product? It is great for covering up those dark eyes after a late night out.

There are two sets of eyeshadow combos in this cosmetics kit; blues and pinks. I love pinks and browns and this set was the perfect 4 shades for me. The blues I am not so hot on. My eyes are bright blue, so using blue eye shadow tends to wash them out. If you like blue eye shadows, though, then I think you will really like these 2 shades. One light, the other kind of a slate blue. They do not go on heavy, and the colors compliment each other wonderfully.

For lip gloss, there is Rouge A Levres in Video Rose and Brillant A Levres in A Bit of Toffee. I like both of these colors. They go on much, much lighter than they look in the case, which is a really good thing because they appear quite dark before you put them on your lips. being glosses, they feel a bit tacky. That is something I hate and is why I rarely buy a gloss. but, here it is so I do use it on occasion. Both last about the amount of time you expect out of any gloss, which is to say it varies from 20 minutes to an hour or two depending on whether or not you are smoking, eating, or just standing around looking pretty.

To go with the lip glosses is a small lip liner pencil in a light beige called Linen. I do not use lip liners. Ever. I tried to put this one on for the review, but it is like a pencil thing and pretty hard. Seriously. I think this part of the Travel Studio is going to get tossed today as bloody worthless. Ah well, nothing ever turns out to be 100%, does it? Still, we're doing pretty good except for this item so far.

The eyeliner included in the Travel Studio is black from the Dior Crayon Eyeliner line. I like this one. It goes on smooth and lasts quite awhile. You will need to have a sharpener handy, though, as one is not included in this kit.

The mini Eyebrow Pencil is in Blond. I do not use this type of item either. I do not like the looks of them when I see it on other people. I did put it on while typing this, though, and I have to say that it is pretty worthless. Maybe if you wet the tip it might go on, but straight out of the tray it is hard like a regular pencil and I was afraid I was going to cut my skin. Toss this item also... that's two down, but we're still very happy with the set.

Last but not least, Dior's Travel Studio includes all the little brushes, sponges, and applicators you need. They even put in an eyebrow brush.

So. Overall, I am going with 4 out of 5 stars for the Dior Travel Studio. It really has every cosmetic I need for a weekend get-away without taking up much space at all in my travel bags. for the price, it was a good buy.

Sorry - did not get an alert to these last two comments.... they must have changed the kit after I bought mine. I need to pick up another one right now.

I love the Dior blonde eyebrow pencil. It comes with a brush on one side and they include the best sharpener I have ever had. Pencil used to be blue and is now tanish color. I use the hydra action skin care line from Dior, a gel and sorbet cream. Otherwise it is Eucerin creams for reducing redness. I saw something in a magazine I cut out to check out reviews of clarins colorful horizons eye palette and cannot find the ingredients of this anywhere. Hate to fork over 32.50, so might have to see where their counters are - rather it be Nordstroms instead of Macys.

Great review BUT- we need a photo of where you stash all these cosmetics at home. This is what, your 97th review of a cosmetic item? I can just imagine then spilling out of your drawers and covering the windowsills...
