A. Students participate in scripted role-play called "Denny Teaches Tom to Eat Crow."

Story Description: Tom almost always got in trouble with his teachers while his best friend Denny rarely did. One day while the two boys were out fishing, Tom asked to know Denny's secret. Denny, with the help of his grandfather, taught Tom the very important survival skill of learning how to "eat crow" with teachers, bosses, and other adults in positions of power.

B. Teacher: We will now act out the role-play based on the last story you just heard called "Denny Teaches Tom to Eat Crow."

The role-play features four guy actors: Tom, Denny, Grandpa, and the Guard.

The role-play also features one girl actor: Mrs. Jenkins.

Tom, Denny, and Grandpa have big parts. The Guard has a medium-sized part. Mrs. Jenkins has a small part.

The rest of the class will take turns reading the parts of Narrator 1 and Narrator 2.

Who is interested in playing these roles? (Either pull names or accept eager student volunteers.)
