A. Students participate in scripted role-play called "Johnny and Susan."
Story Description: Johnny and Susan are a brother and sister who cannot seem to get along. Everything changes for the better after their mother teaches Susan how to use 'I Messages' (i.e., Diplomatic 'I' Statements) with her big brother instead of using Accusing 'You' Statements.
Link to that Diplomacy story called "Johnny and Susan."
B. Teacher: We will now act out the role-play based on the last story you just heard called "Johnny and Susan."
The role-play features one guy actor: Johnny.
The role-play also features two girl actors: Susan and Mom.
Mom and Susan have the big- to medium-size parts. Johnny has a small part.
The rest of the class will take turns reading the parts of Narrator 1 and Narrator 2.
Who is interested in playing these roles? (Either pull names or accept eager student volunteers.)
C. PDF File - Print about 10 copies for students to share of this scripted Diplomacy role-play called "Johnny and Susan."
