Kitchen Plate Racks

When you need to make your kitchen more efficient, one thing that can help is to make yourself a kitchen cabinet plate rack plan. This can help you organize many different things and that is why it is essential to have one. Be sure that you look into these handy ideas, so that your kitchen can become more organized.

To Start Out

What You Will Need

  • Wood pieces about 1-foot long and an inch wide
  • Saw
  • Plastic if that is what you choose
  • Nails
  • Hammer
  • Paint or stain (depending on what you want it to look like)
  • Paint brush
  • Glue
  • Making the Rack

Making the base

First thing that you will need to do is to make the base. Start with a 1-foot square piece of wood or plastic. Turn the base over and on each of the 4 corners about a ½-inch in from the sides place a small piece of squared wood. These small pieces of wood can be ¼-inch squared. Make sure that they are all the same size as this will make the rack stand even in the cabinet. If you are using plastic for the rack, you will not need to add these pieces to the bottom of the base. You can use small pieces of felt and glue them on and this will keep the rack from sliding. (1/2-inch squared pieces are fine.)

Insert the racks for the plates

You will need several pieces of wood or plastic for this part of the process. Insert them on an angle and attach them to the base using a hammer and a nail from the under side of the base. In some cases you may need to use more than one nail to make it sturdy, in fact up to four should be efficient. You might need to sand the pieces down before you nail them in. If you use plastic then you will need to glue these pieces to the base. You should have a total of eight different pieces so that there are six different slats when you are finished.

Prepare the wood or plastic when it is complete

Stain the wood and varnish it (make sure that it is evenly coated) or paint the plastic and let it dry completely. Disinfect the unit and then put in the cabinet. Put the plates in the rack.
