woke from a dream like missing you
something like sulfur in my throat
laughing, the dark ate me up while i wondered
how many would read this
and think of themselves
something like sulfur in my throat
laughing, the dark ate me up while i wondered
how many would read this
and think of themselves
woke from a dream
tasted like back then
the salt and the sweet and i
closed my eyes
waited
for sleep to come back
i wasn't ready for
you
weren't quite ready for
any of all of it
we left behind
the things we never had
traded them in for something
solid
breakable
and false
our breath was dragons and the sky was
blankets
folding us up
and dumping us out
in the dirt.
