Pros
The mains selling point of this vacuum is the design. You have to admit that the design is very intriguing. When standing on the charging base this vacuum looks a lot like a lava lamp. You can even use it as a home decor.
The vacuum itself is very light. It only weighs two pounds so even your kids can use it without breaking a sweat.
This pretty machine has adequate suction power for sucking up dust bunnies, dirt and dry spills. It can also clean corners and between the couch easily. After a full recharge the battery holds long enough for you to do some light cleaning. It is pretty quiet too.
When it is time to empty the dirt cup you can do it with ease. All you need to do is twist the vacuum and dump the content into the sink.
Cons
Even though the design is pretty it doesn't feel right in your hand. It tends to slip and the smooth finish makes it even worse.
When you want to clean a hairball or dust on the floor you can see that the exhaust and the suction head are competing against each other. The exhaust blows away the stuff you want to suck in. The nozzle is very narrow too so a single pass will never be enough. You need to go over the same spot over and over again to get the job done.
The dirt cup is small so you have to empty it often. You also have to clean the filter after every use and since Dirt Devil doesn't include a replacement in the package the filter in the machine is all you got.
And finally, you have to be sure to charge this unit 24 hours before the first use. Any less than that and the battery will hold no longer than 2 minutes of charge.
Conclusion
If you want a stylish yet functional home decor this handheld vacuum would be ideal. However, for day-to-day spot cleaning you will be better off buying a more powerful handheld vacuum. There are some decent cordless handheld vacs in the $40-$50 range.
