Pros
The price tag of Dirt Devil M085590 is clearly one of its major selling points. For less than $40 you get this retro-styled upright vacuum with excellent quality.
Being cheap does not mean it lacks in suction power. This upright vacuum has enough power coming from its 12-amp motor to suck in dirt, hairs, crumbs and everything else in its path. A single pass through your living room could give you a full dirt bag to throw away and replace.
The Microfresh filtration in this vacuum is claimed to trap over 99-percent of dust and allergens. It is similar to (but still below) HEPA filter system. However ,for some people with asthma the Microfresh filtration is good enough. Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filter system are usually more expensive than the non-HEPA vacuums but thanks to this Microfresh filtration people with mild asthma and other respiratory problems can save their money from buying those expensive vacuums.
Another good thing about this vacuum is that it's lightweight despite its large size. It is easy to maneuver and handle. Even a twelve-year-old can use it easily.
The Dirt Devil M085590 Featherlite is a bagged vacuum and for some people bagged vacuum is more convenient to use that the bagless ones. Bagged vacuums are convenient because you don't need to worry about the dust burst back when you empty the dust holder. With bagged vacuums you can just throw the bag away and forget about it.
The small details are nice too especially that hook on the handle where you can loop the power cord. It saves your from stumbling over it all the time.
Cons
Do you usually listen to music from your portable music player when vacuuming? If not you may want to start doing it. The Dirt Devil M085590 Featherlite is loud. Even spending fifteen minutes with it can make your ears ringing. There are louder vacuum than this one in the market but you still need to take precautions to save your eardrums.
The other negative is the hose. Sometimes it's hard to get the hose out when using the attachments.
Conclusion
Anyone who wants to save money should get this vacuum. It will cost you less than $40 to buy one and it does excellent job cleaning your carpets and bare floors.
