Dirty Lil Secrets Hits the Studio

Local Band Begins Recording in Indiana

Rachael Taylor
Listening to the band while recording their first album, I was struck by the talent of this unsigned band. Their sound is completely original but you hear influences of many of their favorite artists and bands. I sat back and enjoyed a four hour jam session that was filled with music that created an aura of familiarity with each of the four main members. All four are family members and each have their own tastes and backgrounds that they bring to the recording studio everytime they get together; lead guitarist, C.J.T is well versed in the local bar scene venue from 15 years of playing in various local bands; Bassist, Frog (C.J.T's wife of 12 years), has picked up the Bass quickly over the past year and rivals those who have been playing for years you can feel the emotion that she puts into every song; G, rhythm guitarist and Frog's step-father, has a natural flow that is apparent whenever they get together to perform; Momma, keyboardist and Frog's mother, has returned to the instrument after a 25 year absense and is putting to shame some of the newer kids on the block.

They are a mixture of Rock, Country, Hip-Hop and Metal; although the combination sounds impossible they pull it off with amazing results that gets you up on the floor and singing the hook within minutes. I can not compare them to anyone and give the true essense of their sound you really need to hear them perform to appreciate their music. All songs and music were written by the band members, some of the lyrics are soul touching and heartwrenching to hear. If you have ever had a moment in your life where you felt completely lost and discouraged you will feel the emotion in their darker somber sets.

I felt pulled in and lost in their song titled "Nobody's Home", C.J.T puts force behind lyrics that tempt you to feel the pain that he was feeling while writing the song 6 years ago. Frog takes you on a lyrical journey of pain and self-induced suffering in the song "Reflections", this one had me feeling the need to walk over and hug her and let her know everyone has these moments at one time or another. The faster tempo renagade sound of "Outlaw" ,"Cowboy Anthem" and "Rain Song" will have your adrenaline pumping as you follow along to the musical journey of a modern day cowboy running from the law.

Although they currently do not play to a live audience, C.J.T and Frog are raising 6 small children, they are working feverishly with their producer to get their self-titled album on the market before the end of the year. They are confident that all they need to do is get their music out there and it will gain popularity quickly. I wholeheartedly agree with them, from what I witnessed they are just months away from making a huge impact in the music world. You can find them on Myspace and they are building their web-site as I type this review, I overheard the mention of a possible series of video guitar lesons with the purchase of their album.
