The Death of Darth Maul: Darth Maul is one of the coolest villains that ever came from the mind of George Lucas. His tough, knows karate, has a hideous looking face, and that double bladed lightsaber he carries is awesome. When you look at Darth Maul you just have to think "dang this guy is scary!" and he was. Darth Maul killed Qui Gon Jinn, a Jedi master, and nearly killed Obi Won. He confronted both Jedi at the same time and beat them both, however Darth Maul was killed on a fluke. Darth Maul is the only other Sith, besides Darth Vader, while on screen. The Death of Darth Maul was a great disappointment to me, I really wanted to see him in another film.
General Grievous: So this guy is actually like a low tech Darth Vader, only his brain heart and eyes survive within the robotic body, but yet he lives. If anyone saw the Clone Wars cartoon (an expansion between episodes II and III) then you were expecting to see a mean Jedi Hunter, but instead saw a broken down hacking robot who could hardly do anything. General Grievous was portrayed as being trained by Count Duku and was credited with killing multiple Jedi of varying ranks, in fact all four of the lightsabbers he uses were "trophies" of Jedi Grievous had killed in battle. The buildup of this character compared to how he was played out onscreen was a huge disappointment.
The True Face of Vader: When the original trilogy wrapped in the 1980's nobody had seen the true face of Darth Vader, the most evil character to come out of the Star Wars Universe, and at the end of Return of the Jedi Luke removes his father's helmet. The result is a decrepit bald and green man who looks nothing like many fans pictured. Vader had such high hopes and everyone waited on the edge of their seats in hopes of catching a glimpse of the evil Sith Lord but were humbled by the site of what Darth Vader truly looked like.
For the most part Star Wars is a great series that everyone enjoys, but there are moments even in the best films that can really disappoint a fan base, and these were my three picks from the Star Wars Universe.
