We're quick to blame God, man or nature. Sometimes we are right. Sometimes we couldn't be more off base.
Yet, in truth, knowing the reason doesn't change how we feel about the event. We still hurt. We feel loss and devastation. We can't reconcile what has happened with the life we want to believe exists.
This poem has grown out of my own feelings of loss about natural disasters, man-made loss and self-made mistakes. Hopefully it will also touch a chord within you.
I weep for the loss
Of mothers and sons;
Fathers and daughters;
Sisters and brothers
And for all others
Still lost in the storm.
I ache for the touch
Of their hands and hearts;
Their minds and their souls;
For all that they were
And still could have been
If they had survived.
I long for answers
Where none may be found.
It's kismet or fate;
God or the Devil
A real taste of hell
Right here on the Earth.
There is no comfort.
There is no release.
There is just the faith
That a tomorrow
Can bring us real hope;
A new beginning.

I believe we can never understand the real purpose of life. We need to embrace all as part of the whole. We tend to treat as "mine", "yours" etc. But we have only temporary possession. All children are same; need love and care but we want "their own" to bestow such inborn feelings. We tend to shut out basic feelings and reality. We can act as mothers, fathers,sons, daughters etc but let us not forget that we are all one and the same. So when we lose that we cherish, we can find another and adapt without differentiation. That is what the Creator intended; share his creations without borders. Great feelings, Charlotte - siva
