Disaster in Haiti Brings Out the Worst in Some

Frank Mucci
There's a battle raging for the title of "Biggest Turd in America" between the always despicable Rush Limbaugh and that good Christian man from The 700 Club, Pat Robertson.

Following the devastating earthquake that has turned the nation of Haiti into little more than rubble, these two blowhards have stepped forward to take the focus away from getting relief to this impoverished country and instead turned it upon themselves.

Robertson, who previously blamed Hurricane Katrina on gays and lesbians and 9/11 on, among others, The American Civil Liberties Union has announced that the earthquake in Haiti is God's way of saying he's pissed because that country had made a pact with the devil way back in the 1700s! It would be nice to give Robertson the benefit of the doubt and assume he has a brain tumor causing him to say stupid things or that he is just plain Looney-Tunes. It is more likely that such talk is all just part of the made-up package of outrageous statements that have kept his show on television and kept him rolling in dough by feeding on the stupidity of others.

Not to be outdone-and when it comes to outrageous statements, Limbaugh is rarely surpassed-Jabba the Rush told his faithful listeners that President Obama's quick response to the disaster was merely for show. Apparently Rush prefers the do-nothing approach to natural disasters of the previous administration. Again, it would be nice to say that too many prescription drugs are causing this man to spew such nonsense, but we all know Rush is nothing more than another scumbag making his fortune telling his minions what they want to hear. With an opportunity to show a little humanity and ask his "Dittoheads" to dig deep and help out, he instead decided to spout his usual vitriolic BS. Nice guy.

All of this while the lifeless bodies of thousands of victims including children and babies are still being pulled from the rubble and stacked along the side of the road. Yes, Pat Robertson, these people are paying the price for some superstitious mumbo-jumbo your followers believe to be true because you said it. And right Rush Limbaugh, the president is using this disaster for his own purposes while you use it to boost your ratings and fatten your wallet.

Fortunately, most thinking Americans are not followers of Limbaugh or Robertson and respond to the calamities of other humans with concern, sympathy and a willingness to help in any small way that they can. If you are one of those people and you haven't done so already, you can help ease the financial burden of disaster relief by giving even a little to one of the relief organizations working to bring aid to the people of Haiti.

Here are just a few links to some of the relief organizations currently involved in Haiti. There are other organizations taking donations as well. If you are concerned at all about their legitimacy, you can't go wrong with the following:

The American Red Cross

Click "Donate Now" and select "Haiti Relief and Development"

UNICEF

This will take you directly to the Haiti page where you can click "Donate Now"

Doctors Without Borders

Great report! You think we would have learned something about "slow responses" to disasters after Hurricane Katrina!

I was angered, but not surprised by the statements of those two duderheads!

Great job, and thanks for the references too.

Great article! Two big turds that need to be flushed! I was outraged at what they said!

It's amazing to me that in a time that this people can use it to further their own agenda. It's almost like stopping at traffic accident where people are laid out and the bystanders arguing about who run who off the road without helping. Makes no sense.

Two people that bring shame on the nation!! Hard to believe that they still go on stealing oxygen from the earths supply!

When does a soapbox become a toolbox? When occupied by Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson!

Ditto, Kurt. This is no time for ridiculous, hateful blanket statements. It's a time to outpour help and love. Maybe down the road, when things are a little less raw, we can share with people why we think God does things by using examples of adverse situations in our own lives. Men like Robertson don't seem to understand that when they make such declarations it gives their entire faith just another mark of intolerance. They may pay for it in the media, but it's the Christians working in the trenches who also get a bad name.

Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson are both idiots who need to have their public soapboxes taken away from them. These are two idiots that need to be put out of business.
