Discernment

Lisa R. Strong

My mind is confused;
My heart is heavy with sorrow;
Where do I go?
How do I go?
Living a life in emptiness;
A secular existence that bears nothing;
I bow my head and close my eyes;
I prostrate myself before you;
Tell me Lord, what do you want from me?
Even before my idle hands;
I knew that there had to be something more;
Yet here I am, stuck in a rut;
No way in, and no way out;
Without confidence or courage;
My knees are bruised and my vision blurry;
The beads have grown hot in my hands;
And warmth travels throughout my body;
Give me strength and courage;
To forsake all for the love of you;
And to live my life forever;
In prayer and service to you;
Detach me from my worldliness;
From habits and earthly possessions;
That I may live my life for you alone;
And fulfill my ultimate purpose here;
A discernment of love and faith;
A vocation of complete love;
A question lingers within my heart;
I humbly await your kind answer;
You will send it to me in your perfect time

    The power of discernment giving by God is a beautiful gift to us. Well written. As always your poetry is openly honest in examining the world around us.

    Not only do I love this poem for the honesty it represents, but more-so the person behind the poem. I also believe that photos ad a great way to represent your art as it relates to the piece itself. Thanks for being a good friend, Alfonso
