It is very difficult for many busy people to set the alarm an hour early, wipe the crust out of their eyes, put on their tennis shoes and start running down the road. Your body is stiff, you are tired and it is cold out but for some reason people actually do get out there and run. The first few minutes are the hardest but then it gets pretty easy once the blood starts pumping.
Once you finish with your jog you are wide awake and ready to jump in the shower and head off to work. If you don't feel awake after all of that chances are you wouldn't have woken up anytime soon. The feeling that you have accomplished something so early in the morning can be great. You are starting your day out right and the sun is just starting to rise bringing with it rays of hope.
To get up in the morning or to head to the gym after a long day's work requires that a person have motivation. It isn't easy forcing your self to work out when the last thing on your mind is expending energy. However, you know that nothing gets done unless you are willing to put your foot out there and make it happen. If you set goals and tasks each day working can simply part of your routine.
Discipline doesn't work along unless you have some level of motivation. Motivation builds within you a desire to actually lose the weight. True motivation is more than simply looking in the mirror and saying, "I'm getting fat!" Instead motivation is more about the willingness to actually make changes to your life so you can lose weight.
Many people are not motivated in life. They aren't motivated when it comes to their work, their goals, their relationships, or their fitness goals. They don't have the confidence to believe they can actually accomplish what they put their mind to. These feelings of worthlessness tell them, "Don't bother trying because it won't happen anyway". To have motivation means you need to believe in yourself.
Motivation and discipline work hand in hand. You have to obtain the motivation to get off of the couch, stop eating fatty foods and start an exercise program. Discipline keeps you doing it each and every day despite that you don't feel like it. There will be many distractions in your journey to a healthier life and you will have to master these two skills.
