Disco Theme Party Costumes - Dressing for a disco theme party isn't expensive, and there are a lot of real neat things you can do to dress for the occasion. You can make your own bellbottom jeans by using a pair of jeans you already have and attaching some tacky fabric to the bottom of them. Add a shirt with a peace sign or smiley face - or even a Hawaiian-style shirt. Women can wear their hair long and straight, or in two braids. Consider an afro for men. As the host, keep on hand some accessories for your guests that don't arrive in costume such as dark sunglasses, love beads, glitter, and even face paint.
Disco Theme Party Decorations - Hang a beaded curtain guests must walk through when they enter the party to set the mood right from the beginning. Definitely find some disco balls and flashing lights to put up in any location. If you don't mind a little after-party sweeping, consider picking up some disco themed confetti and scatter it all around the floor and tables. You can drape a section your wall with tie-dye tapestry. Cut out smiley faces, hearts, flowers, and peace signs from construction paper and attach to the walls throughout the house.
Disco Theme Party Games and Activities - For disco party entertainment, have a constant stream of disco music playing. There are lots of 70s dance moves such as the hustle, the bump, and the bus stop. Consider playing old movies or TV shows from the 70s in the living room to catch people in a good laugh and a trip down memory lane. Turn a game out of old movies and songs by playing "Name that tune" or "Name that TV show."
Make room for guests to play Twister, which you could put outside. Connect Four, Hungry Hippos, Monopoly, and Life were other popular board games of the 70s, which you could have available for play.
Disco Theme Party Food and Drink - Cheese and/or chocolate fondue are a must. Chips and dip work well for a disco party too. To satisfy the sweet tooth, make brownies, a Jell-O mold, or simply ice a cake in yellow icing and draw a smiley face on it. Dr. Pepper, Coke, Sprite, etc. work well for soda, or you can make a punch bowl with Kool-Aid or Tang.
