Discount Lift Tickets that Are Not Available in Colorado Grocery Stores - a Colorado Insider's Guide

King Soopers and Safeway Do Not Carry Discount Lift Tickets for Every Ski Resort

G. Kunkel
Looking for discount lift tickets at King Soopers and Safeway grocery stores in Colorado? Many people visiting Colorado during the ski season know that lift ticket deals can be found at Colorado grocery stores. What they do not know is what discount lift tickets are available and where they can be bought.

King Soopers (City Market) and Safeway are the two major grocery store chains found throughout Colorado. Their Front Range locations carry the discount lift tickets for Colorado ski resorts. Their locations in the mountains and near ski resorts sell very limited discount lift tickets.

Both King Soopers and Safeway sell discount lift tickets to Winter Park Resort, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Area, Breckenridge, Keystone, Monarch Mountain, Ski Sunlight, Ski Cooper, Solvista, and Eldora Mountain Resort.

The City Market grocery store in Dillon, CO sells single day lift tickets to Copper Mountain, A-Basin, Breckenridge, and Keystone. With the purchase of multiple day tickets to Keystone and Breckenridge, one can use one day at Vail or Beaver Creek. Discount multi-day ski lift tickets for Vail or Beaver Creek Resort are not available. Dillon City Market - (970) 468-2363.

Discount lift tickets that are not available in King Soopers/City Market or Safeway include: Aspen, Steamboat Ski Resort, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk, Telluride, and Silverton Mountain. Before Colorado ski resorts started selling discounted season passes to Colorado locals in the late '90's, discount lift tickets were available for some of these ski resorts in grocery stores.

Discount lift tickets can still be bought for Aspen, Vail, Steamboat Ski Resort, Beaver Creek Resort, Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk but it will take some effort on your part. Season pass holders for Vail Ski Resort have a number of discount coupons loaded onto their passes. Colorado ski industry insiders and locals will also have access to lift ticket discounts at Colorado ski resorts.

With careful internet sleuthing, discount lift tickets can be found for Colorado ski resorts that King Soopers and Safeway do not carry. Deals on lift tickets in Colorado are possible but often involve time and leg work on your part.

Be aware that it is illegal in Colorado to buy someone else's picture ski season pass. Picture ski season passes are non-transferable. New technology and employee rewards often mean a $1000 fine and jail time. The police will be called if ski pass fraud is discovered. Some ski passes however are transferable in Colorado.
