Discount Prom Dresses in Metro Orlando

Where to Go when Your Cash is Low

Celeste St. John
It's been such a long time since I went to my prom, but I am so glad I went. I had a real nice time dancing with friends and just experiencing royal treatment for a day. Hey, I was graduating high school! Why not?

The dress I wore was hardly prom material. Nowadays, the prices are up and people are little more scrutinizing on what you wear. But you don't have to break the bank to get a decent prom dress.

Starting from a very discount price, there are stores that cater to the adventurers in us that don't care about what our peers think when it comes to fashion.

If you live in the greater Metro Orlando area, there is a store called DD's Discounts. A friend recommended this store to me. The store has miraculous prices on a wide range of clothes. The dress selection is small but for those who know how to put together an ensemble, it is worth checking out.

Ross is another discount dress store with a plethora of outfits. the prices are definitely not upscale and while the majority of the dresses can seem excessively matronly, if you have an eagle's eye and are a savvy bargain hunter with some time to spend, you can find an '09 worthy prom dress.

Now I like to shop at Beall's, particularly the outlet store, but I know that the outlet store does not have a lot of selection in "prom dresses." Beall's is another good store to visit when looking for fashionable clothing. They are little more upscale than Ross, but for a night out on the town, the value is worth mentioning.

Of Course, there is always Wal-Mart, with an invitation for all the artists and fashion designers out there, to put separates together to create an ensemble piece. If you cannot find a whole outfit on one fee, Wal-Mart gladly supplies the media to create your own work of art.

J C Penney and Sears are available for this seasonal high school wear. Their cost in dresses is more than the previous, yet if you're looking for something distinct that says "prom queen" and imitation won't do, these stores are a girl's best friends. Also, Kohl's is one store that was just added to this area. It deserves to be tested as a discount venue for all types of couture.

EBay is another site to look for dresses. If you don't mind not trying on the clothes in the fitting room, than finding the perfect dress at a cheap cost may be closer than you realize. Still, if your personal measurements need tailoring, ask the seller to post the dimensions of the garment(s) on the site. If you are surfing at the major retailers online, call the Customer Service number and ask if they can help you.

There are tailors in the area if you already have attire but are in need of alterations.
Look on Google Maps or Yahoo! Yellow pages to find one close to you. Type in tailor in the search box of yellow pages and a list should become available. I'm including a list of the stores websites, should you choose to shop online. Happy prom night, ladies and occasional gents!
