Learn What Southerners Do to Relax on Labor Day

A Southern Tradition- A Fish Fry in the Park

Nothing taste quite as satisfying as catfish rolled in cornmeal then fried quickly and salted while still hot. The taste is exquisite. In Atlanta you will see many groups of Atlanta natives enjoying this age old ritual while sipping their favorite beverage and eating the equally famous hush puppies. Families for generations have grouped together while playing Frisbee, softball, croquet and various other games of entertainment. Come join us, won't you?

Football- Opening Day

Labor Day is the official end of summer and the beginning of fall. Fall in the south always means football. Men everywhere will be cranking their grills and cooling the beer for the souths number one fall classic- college football. Pork barbecue is the food of choice. In Atlanta we smother the meat in delicious mouth watering red sauce with a hint of vinegar. Then we hunker down for our beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs or of course their bitter rival the Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech.

Families Pack and Head for Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain is just that- the biggest rock in the south. Stone Mountain is a huge park with things to do like canoe, fish, ride the railroad train, eat a picnic, watch the Laser Light Show for the final time this summer and enjoy the carving of the three top generals of the Confederate Army.

The Atlanta Braves Via for Another Championship

The fall means post season play and the World Series. A fall tradition as the Braves once again look to win the 15th division title in 18 years. Maybe even a World Series appearance as the National League Champions. In Atlanta it doesn't matter if they are playing at Turner Field or if they are out of town we Atlantians will be aware of the score no matter were we are or what we are doing. They are the undisputed Home Team of the South.

Well there you have it the lineup for families celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of fall as they intersect at the most laid back and relaxed location in the Southeast.

C'mon down and stay awhile.
