Marietta's Art in the Park

A great place to hang for Labor Day is Marietta's Art in the Park were as much as 200 artist show off their craft and skill. The art exhibit is held in Grover Park at the Marietta Square downtown. Marietta is a northern bedroom community of Atlanta and is right off I-75. Art in the Park is sponsored by Marietta Business Association.

All items are hand made originals by the artist themselves with no reproductions . Paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery and lots of special one of a kind art for you to enjoy or purchase.

They have artist demonstrations and a children art ally. There is fun for the whole family and best of all parking is free.

Celebrate Freedom Atlanta

The Fish, a local Christian Radio Station, sponsors a free one day outdoor concert on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Held at the Jim R. Miller Park at 10am-11pm with fireworks following the concert is a family friendly environment were good music and food are the fare of the day.

Parking is $5.00 and no coolers or food can be brought in but the vendors charge a reasonable amount and with free tickets it should be affordable to all who want to attend.

Lots of up and coming Christian artist such as Natalie Grant, Anthony Evans, Point of Grace, Big Daddy Weave, the Oswald Brothers and more. Should be just a blow out event on a great weekend of fun.

Last Blast of Summer Concert and Fireworks

A three day weekend extravaganza at Stone Mountain Park on Labor Day that honors the American Spirit. Boy I can taste that barbecue and fried catfish now. With a spectacular free concert hosted by Kick's 105 FM and an extended fireworks and laser light show Monday night.

Stone Mountain sports a large carving of three Confederate Soldiers ala Mt Rushmore in South Dakota. A large grassy green spreads out from the mountain were all can enjoy the concert and light show.

During the day you can take a tram up to the top and hike down with great vistas of downtown Atlanta in the not so far off distance. Ride the Stone Mountain Railroad around the park or just sit back cook some barbecue and enjoy the lakes and park.

You can rent canoes and fish in the lakes or camp out if so inclined. Might be a bit warm as we are experiencing the dog days of summer and temperatures are hovering around 96 degrees.

The event will bring in some excellent new talent in country music such as Jarrod Niemann singing his new single "Lover Lover". Also headlining is Chris Janson and Edens Edge.

Concert, Fireworks and Laser Show are free with $10 per car entry fee per day or annual pass of $35.

It should be a great weekend in Atlanta as summer ends and fall begins.
