Discover Fine Italian Cuisine in Fort Worth, Texas

Tara Dodrill
Travel to the heart of Italy without leaving the "Lone Star" state. Dining at Aventino in Fort Worth transports your palate to the 'old country' with succulent choices of beef, rich sauces and decadent desserts. The fine dining restaurant opened in 1982 as a labor of love by the Paez family. Dishes feature the distinct flavor of central Italy - an area known as the "Garden Belt." Exotic meat entrees include traditional Italian recipes with ingredients such as wild boar and rabbit. Florentina style steak is the house specialty.

Atmosphere

The Aventino creates an upscale atmosphere while maintaining moderately priced meals. Tuscan limestone and architectural features make you feel as if you are sitting in a quaint Italian cafe. Casual dining attire is appropriate during weekday and early evening hours. Although you will not likely see customers wearing jeans and a t-shirt, you need not dig out a suit and tie for a Saturday night visit to Aventino.

Salumeria

The restaurant features a Salumeria, an Italian delicatessan which offers Italian seasoned pork, salami, mortadella, prosciutto, brasciola and host of specialty cheeses and meat products.

Enoteca

An Enoteca, or Italian wine bar offers a broad range of fine wines and cocktails. In addition to a full list of Italian wines, Aventine also fills customer's glasses with low yield Californian wines. The lounge area which encompasses the wine bar is a popular gathering place for couples out for a romantic evening in Fort Worth.

Menu

Appetizers - Bite in a succulent zucchini blossom which has been charred and basted with lemon and avacado puree. The Texas Heirloom Caprese are equally delicious. The appetizer is a combination of buffalo mozzarella, black olive salt and polenta sticks.

Pasta - Enjoy a heaping bowl of slow braise short rib lasagna and Chianti. The dish is topped with multiple layers of egg pasta and rosemary ricotta cheese. Tempt gluttony with the braised wild boar peppercorn pappardelle. Baby beets, spiced pecans, carmelized shallots and treviso are mixed together in an attractive and tasty bowl of carb-filled goodness.

Entrees - Game hens roasted in olive oil and topped with wild mushrooms and figs are one of the most popular items on the menu. Florentina steak, red snapper and roasted fingerling potatoes must also be added to your dining-out bucket list.

Desserts - If you have left enough room for a sweet treat at the end of the night, try the olive oil cake with poached peaches or the strawberry mascarpone sponge cake with zabaglione.

Events and Catering

The Aventino routinely hosts private parties and wedding receptions. The staff aims to please and attends to everything from the appetizers to table decorations for private bookings. Off-site catering is also available.
