Discovering Intera-Ocular Contact Lens for Myopia

LISA
Intra-Ocular Contact Lenses or ICL's are used as a treatment for mild, moderate, or severe myopia. While the procedure takes less than 30 minutes to perform there are several criteria that go into deciding on this particular procedure. ICL's or Implantable contact lenses are used to work with your natural lens to improve disturbances associated with mild, moderate, or severe myopia.

Procedure:

During the procedure the patient is given a numbing agent to help relax the eye and a mile topical or local anesthesia to assist in relaxing the patient will allowing them to be awake during the procedure.

There are two forms of ICL's

The Visian ICL:

The Visian ICL is performed with a small incision that allows its implantation in front of the natural lens. The incision than self-heals.

The Verisyse Lens:

With the Verisyse lens there is a slightly bigger incision made which is closed with a dissolving stitch after the implant is in its place.

Recovery :

Follow up appointment should be made within 24 hours of the procedure. Since the eye will be very sensitive the doctor will prescribe eye drops and you to wear a protective shield over your eye until its healed. The patient will see improved vision within 1-7 days of the procedure, and the eye should fully heal within 1-2 months. There should be little to no pain after the procedure, and the patient will be instructed to take over the counter pain meds if pain does exist.
