Man Vs. Wild: This is a great show on Discovery Channel that lets you explore all different areas. On Man Vs. Wild Bear Grylls shows us how to survive in different areas of the wild. On one episode he was in Alaska and showed us how he had to take steps to protect himself from the weather. In another episode Bear actually drinks his own urine to stay hydrated.
Planet Earth: If you want to get to know your planet this is a great show for you. Planet Earth is a high quality documentary show that travels to different parts of the world in every episode. This Discovery Channel show takes you places you would never otherwise get to see, like caves and oceans. This show is very well narrated and gives you lots of information about out planet. This is one of Discovery Channels most popular shows and it's easy to see why. This is definitely one of Discovery Channels top shows.
The Alaska Experiment: This is a great show for any Alaska enthusiast. The Alaska Experiment puts volunteers in the Alaskan wilderness to see how they will survive. This is a educational show, but it is very entertaining at the same time. This show teaches you a lot about Alaska and the different wildlife that lives there. This show also shows you how beautiful yet dangerous Alaska can be.
How to Survive: This Discovery Channel show also features Les Stroud, explaining different situations and how to survive them. This show takes real life situations and Les Stroud tell you what the people did right and what they did wrong. This show is very informative and makes you feel like you would be better prepared in a bad situation. This show gives you information that everyone should know, such as if you get stuck or lost in your car, you should never leave your car, it will help the rescuers find you.
I shouldn't be Alive: This is similar to How to Survive, but this show features the actual people that dealt with deadly situations. This show has reenactments of situations that people were in, that they are lucky to have lived through. Often these are situation where people were on vacation when they got lost somehow, yet they were able to survive. One episode features a group of people that were on a fishing trip in the Sea of Cortez when a storm came and blew over their sailboat. The show explained how they were able to survive by making their way to an island then finding rescuers. This is a excellent show on Discovery Channel because it has so much good and usable information. It makes you realize that if you are lost somewhere the steps you should take, so you will be found.
Whale Wars: This Discovery Channel show plays on the Animal Planet, and it is one of Discovery Channels best new shows. This show follows the Sea Shepard's as they fight to save the whales. The show explains that the Japanese harpoon ships come and by a technicality kill hundreds on whales. It is illegal to kill whales for profit, but the Japanese claim they are using them for research. This show really teaches you a lot about whales and the whale industry. It makes you want to join in the fight to save the whales.
Fearless Planet
Survivorman: This Show is a great Discovery Channel show that really shows you how to survive in the wilderness if many different area. Les Stroud is amazing as he deals with not only the elements of the area he is in, but all of the filming himself. That's right Les Stroud is out in the wild completely by himself, he does all the filming there are no camera crews with him. While watching his show you learn a lot about different tips that would help you live if you ever found yourself in a survival situation.
Everest Beyond the Limit- This is an amazing show that follows people as they set out on the greatest adventure of their lives, climbing Everest. This is an amazing journey that you get to be a part of. Climbing Mount Everest is a huge challenge even to the most expert climbers. This is something that most people would never be able to experience. This is a breathtaking journey, and you shouldn't miss this top Discovery Channel show.
Iditarod- The Iditarod is called the toughest race on earth for a reason, this is one amazing competitive and endurance. This show follows the dog musher's and their teams of dogs as they race the Iditarod. It is amazing how hard they dogs push themselves, and how much work they do to prepare for this race. It is amazing the amount of faith and trust the musher's must put in their dogs, they are truly partners in the race. One of the racers was a blind woman, she had so much trust in her dogs that she is able to be a strong competitor in such a tough race. This is an amazing show on The Discovery Channel, and a must see for nature lovers and animal lovers alike.
Deadliest Catch- This show follows crab fisherman in Alaska, as we watch them go on their dangerous journey to catch us seafood. This show will really give you a different respect for the food that you eat. It is amazing that the fisherman have to go through so much just to catch these fish. Next time you are eating crab you will think about this show, and where your fish came from. Don't miss this exciting Discovery Channel show.
