Discovery Channel is at it again, bringing fun and education together for the masses. I recently got lost in the interactive games they host on their website, and I'm going to try to limit myself to telling you about 5 of the best.
These interactive games cover typical Discovery Channel genres. They have interactive games about Egypt, China, Dinosaurs, and the Earth, as well as games about ships like the Bismarck and the Titanic. Discovery Channel also has an interactive game called Tour a Lion. It may be impossible to pick through the interactive games to pick one favorite.
However, I'm narrowing it down to 5 interactive games:
Discovery Channel Interactive Games
Time Warp
A fun little game where you control the scene. You select a scene you're interested in playing with and you control the speed at which the scene plays and whether it plays forwards or backwards. This interactive game works with either your mouse or your keyboard.
You might like this interactive game if you like photography, film effects like slow motion, and still shots in action scenes. I particularly enjoyed the water balloon in this interactive game.
If you like this Discovery Channel game, you might also like these interactive games: Mythbusters, Sherpa Cam, which is interactive video of a trek up Mt. Everest, or Cancer Collage, which highlights the many faces of people touched by cancer either directly or indirectly.
Interactive Dinosaur Viewer
This interactive game highlights dinosaurs from the Dinosaur Planet show from the Discovery Channel. Tour 20 dinosaurs and get detailed information about their bodies, habits, sizes, and how they moved in this interactive game.
If you like this Discovery Channel game, you might like these interactive games: Visit a Prehistoric Zoo, Ice Age Giants, Ice Map, Time Travel, and Tour a Lion.
Virtual Earth
This branch of Discovery Channel's interactive games is about our current world, and the causes and effects of climate change. Learn about pollution, carbon dioxide levels, natural disasters and more in this easy-to-navigate interactive game.
If you like this Discovery Channel game, you might also like these interactive games: Your Digital Footprint, Grow Your Own Tornado, Virtual Volcano, Tsunami Map, and Supervolcano!
Who Killed King Tut?
A murder mystery game centered around King Tutankhamen of Ancient Egypt. Examine the suspects Ankhesanamun, Horemheb, and Ay, learn about opportunity, motives, and see evidence, then submit your guess.
If you like this Discovery Channel game, you might also like these interactive games: Nefertiti Resurrected, Ramses' Realm, The Emperor's Tomb, and Virtual Colosseum.
Bismarck, The Final Days
This Discovery Channel game explores the last 9 tense days of the German battleship Bismarck in 1941. A good example of interactive games, it includes a lot of information and requires your rapt attention.
If you like this Discovery Channel game, you might also like these interactive games: Tour the Bismarck, Dive to Titanic, Explore Titanic, Attack on Pearl Harbor, Stealth Secrets, The Wright Stuff, and Tour the Triangle.
Don't forget to check out the other interactive games the Discovery Channel has to offer, like Get Off Your Butt Map, which encourages you to find outrageous hobbies and quirky pasttimes. Also check out the interactive game Compare the Aliens, from the Discovery Channel series Alien Planet.
All in all, Discovery Channel has some really great interactive games and I've really enjoyed learning while playing them. I hope you do too!
