Discovery Toys: Great Gifts for Autistic Children
Find Out Why Children, Parents and Educators Love These Toys!
Discovery Toys has partnered with Patricia J. Krantz, Ph.D., Executive Director the famous Princeton Child Development Institute to develop an Autism Support Project. They support the basic skill needs of children with autism and build bridges to the next skill levels. They have grouped toys together for your selection to meet the following criteria.
Discovery Toys to develop independent play with some limited instruction. Children with autism often have difficulties playing independently. They need to be supplied with toys that will allow little prior instruction. Often memory recall can be an issue. Excessive repetition is often needed. Discovery Toys offers a line of toys that enables children to learn by providing cause-and-effect skills through their educational toy line.
Discovery Toys that promote sustained engagement. Gaining more time engaged with a toy is important. Toys that have multiple functions will keep children interested. These toys extend play time that allows skill building experiences for children with autism.
Discovery Toys that build skills for cooperative play. All children learn how to cooperate with peers. It's tempting for an autistic child to play in a world of his/her own. Discovery toys offers a selection of toys to encourage cooperative play. While playing with peers the child learns to share, communicate and become aware of peer's actions. This selection of toys stimulates your child's senses and concentrates on experimentation, music, science, social and emotional skills, and dramatic play.
Discovery Toys that create opportunities for children to talk about their play experience. Discovery Toys know the importance of social activities to encourage an autistic child's conversational growth. Vocalizing the play experience is a vital step in the learning process. This supports skill development and academic and social progress. These toys provide the activity to ask "who, when, where, how and why" open questions among children and their parents.
Discovery Toys with obvious completion criteria. Children with autism are often deprived of knowing when a task is completed due to their ritualistic and repetitive behavior. These toys provide a sense of achievement when the task is completed. With further practice, this allows children to learn to complete a task unassisted.
Discovery Toys that encourage pretend play. Pretend play is a skill autistic children usually need help with. Discovery Toys has grouped toys for your selection that will promote pretend play. You and your child can pretend to be pirates, animals, fire heroes, bugs, explorers and much more!
I got excited about Discovery Toys by my first Discovery Toy party I attended last September. This company has focused on learning through play for over 29 years. These toy products are of high educational value and high durability. Each toy has a lifetime warranty. The Discovery Toy Representative was very passionate about her work from home job Discovery Toys provides. She was very knowledgeable about all the products by years of experience. Further, the toy products have all been tested by her and her child. I knew that these toys were a great purchase once I saw familiar toys that my child's speech pathologist incorporates into her speech sessions. In fact, this representative admitted that our speech pathologist is one of her top buyers. In addition, many other educators in this area frequently purchase from her as well.
My first purchase was for my three year old son who has been recently diagnosed with high functioning autistic disorder. I saw the A B Seas Game and new that my son would be thrilled to play it. My son has a strong interest in cars and that is primarily what he wants to play with. We have been trying to incorporate more pretend play into his play time. He has been enjoying pretending to fish with sticks and the like. Since the A B Seas game is a fishing game, I knew it would grab his attention. Not only did it grab his attention, but he played it appropriately and shared turns with his three siblings. This is not a skill that comes easily for him. This game has quickly become a family favorite.
If you get invited to a Discovery Toy party I highly recommend you accept that invite. It's a great way to learn about these toys in a hands-on and fun environment. I was allowed to take my 14 month old with me and she actively let me know which toys were of her liking.
