Dish of Stones , a Poem

A Poem About a Dish of Stones and Lost Love

robritt
DISH OF STONES

In my room is a dish of stones
all polished up shiny and bright
I touch each one when I'm alone
at night before dimming the light.

Each of them is special to me
a time we walked hand in hand
each stone reminds of memories
a time when life and love were grand

Now I've only cold stones to hold
and those memories of your eyes
to count and feel when I'm alone
reliving my love in wistful sighs

Perhaps one day soon maybe you will be
someplace where we used to go
and a stone will bring thoughts of me
reminding you of our love, so long ago.

How sweet and sad. I had my heart broken when I was about 17, but if he hadn't dumped me I wouldn't have the wonderful husband the Lord gave me over 48 years ago. I guess we all get hurt at least once in our lives. Hope things soon look up for all of you who are having problems and you have a wonderful Christmas.

I think we all have had a love we walked away from or lost during our lifetime when you get to be up in age. You often wonder how it would have worked out. I think that is what makes life so interesting, as sometimes we will never know. This lost love is now deceased, and I hope where ever he is he is happier than he was.

I have to tell you I have stones and rocks all over. I don't know if this is literal but it's true.
