Disney Animation Collection Three Little Pigs Now on DVD

Disney Animation Collection Brings Disney Classics to DVD in April and May

Kathryn E. Darden
I just finished watching Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment's Disney Animation Collection Volumes 1-6 "Three Little Pigs" on DVD, and it brought back memories I hadn't thought of in years. As soon as the quaint, old-fashioned background music came on, I remembered the theme song and listening to it as a child. My brother and I had an older cousin who bequeathed her childhood collection of Peter Pan records to us several years after she outgrew them. We got the records after the heyday of Peter Pan 45s, so we were lucky children who got to experience an already vintage entertainment form.

Now you and your children can experience a unique telling of some of your favorite storybook tales in this Disney Animation Collection of classic Disney short films on DVD. "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?" the first two little pig brothers sing as they build their new homes. One little pig builds his house of straw and the other little pig builds a home of sticks. When they come to play with their third brother, they find him still working hard on his house of brick. He warns them that the big bad wold can easily get into houses built of straw and sticks, but the other two little pigs just laugh at him... until the wolf huffs and puffs and blows their houses down!

As an adult, I found little things in the cartoon I never noticed before as a child: the smart little pig's piano is also built of brick, and there is a portrait of link sausage on his wall labeled "Father." Full of colorful animation, music, and humor, the "Three Little Pigs" is a classic now available on DVD with other Disney animated classics including "Mickey And The Beanstalk," "The Prince And The Pauper," "The Tortoise And The Hare" (1934), "Wind In The Willows" and "The Reluctant Dragon."

If you have a child, grandchild, or young nieces and nephews, you should definitely check out the Disney Animation Collection. The DVD's are short, but sweet, and they also contain extras. The bonus shorts that come with the Disney Animation Collection "Three Little Pigs" DVD include: "The Big Bad Wolf," "Three Little Wolves," "Lambert The Sheepish Lion," "Chicken Little," "Three Blind Mouseketeers" and "Elmer Elephant."
