Disney "Cruises" into Europe

On May 24, 2007, Disney fans all over Europe had a new reason to celebrate, as the Disney Magic cruise ship arrived in Barcelona, Spain amidst a hail of fireworks. This historic event marked the beginning of Disney's foray into the European cruise market.

The Disney Magic, a cruise liner with a capacity of 2,700 passengers will be making stops all over Europe, with 10 and 11 night journeys around and across the Mediterranean. This will be the largest of the Disney cruise ships available for visitors in the United States!

As the ship arrived in Barcelona, the fireworks were choreographed to numerous classic Disney songs. Thousands of people cheered on the amazing sight. The fireworks show even paid tribute to the third installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series, with the film debuting aboard the ship later into the evening.

Aboard the ship will be numerous European themed activities and parties, including a brand new stage show in the onboard theatre. Disney even offers Mediterranean themed items in their section of Apple's I-tunes store to help travelers get into the spirit of the excursion.

There will be well over 50 activities for kids of all ages, including teenagers, all provided by expertly trained youth counselors. The activities will be geared toward introducing and integrating the cultures of the many destinations the ship will be making, with such activities as Crape-making, baking, making mosaics, and even creating puppets.

New to this cruise line is the breathtaking When Mickey Dreams, which is literally Mickey's dreams come to life via a highly talented cast of "dream seekers" brilliantly choreographed to music. While certainly providing breathtaking entertainment throughout, the piece is highlighted by the appearance of notorious and fan favorite Disney villian Maleficent during Mickey's nightmare. This show is bound to amaze and leave a lasting impression on all who see it.

Also exclusive to the Mediterranean cruise is Party Paradisio, a carnival-themed deck party. Featuring brilliant special effects and many of the most beloved Disney characters, this experience is bound to put all who attend in a Mediterranean party mood.

The Disney Magic was welcomed to Europe amid much fanfare, and is bound to delight fans of all ages. From the character meetings, to the parties, to the adults only areas, like the spa and clubs, there is something here for everyone, and Mediterranean cruises are never going to be the same again.
