The Disney Dream has many pools. There is a a kids pool, a family pool, a little kid water play area, and an adult pool on the Disney Dream. The other Disney cruise ships also had this many pools but the pools on the Dream are different then the other Disney ships. Being a bigger and newer ship the Dream has many things that the other boats do not have.
Some of the pools are very much the same on the Disney Dream and the other boats. For instance the kid and family pool are about the same on all ships. One thing I did notice that was different about the kids pool is the height restrictions did not seemed enforced on the kids only slide. I think this is due to the complete negligence of the Dream cast members. I like that I could actually use the slide though in fact it is better then the Aqua Duck in many ways.
The adult pool is actually smaller on the Disney Dream but it offer what it calls a swim up bar which really is about a half an inch of water that has some cement seats sticking up in front of a bar. While i would expect a bigger instead of a smaller pool on a bigger boat it did not seem to make much difference since no one ever seemed to be around anyway. I have no reason why this was and it makes me a little curious.
The Disney Dream features a Finding Nemo water play area for young children. It is worth running around in for the bigger children too. The area has some water features and some small kids slides. Its a small little area but it is a nice little addition.
The one thing that the Dream has that not only do the other Disney boats not have but no other cruise ship has is a water roller coaster. The Aqua Duck is the first and so far only slide of its kind on the seas right now. The Aqua Duck is very popular and often has lines lasting about 30 minutes. I would avoid it on the day at sea. I was not impressed with it. The ride is slow and not like other water roller coasters I have been on. It is good for young kids and people that do not like thrills but I can not understand its huge popularity other then Disney is pushing it hard and people are sheep. The one thing that I do suggest if you want to give it a try is to ride it on the day at Castaway Cay since you will get a good view of the island from it and there will be much shorter lines. I only waited about 5 minutes for it and even that was probably longer then I should have waited.
As you can see the pools on the Disney Dream are similar to the other Disney cruise ships. The Disney Dream does offer a little more with its pools though. However there are other cruise ships that I fill offer much more with their pools even if they do not have a water roller coaster.
