Disney Halloween Costume Ideas for Children in Minutes

Sophia S. Mark
Children love Disney movies, and every year there are hundreds of Disney characters running up and down the street on Halloween collecting candy. If your son or daughter decides they want to be a Disney character at the last minute, or you are looking for a frugal Halloween costume idea, here are several ideas for Children's Disney costumes that you can put together in minutes. Several of these ideas will also work for teens and adults as well, with just a few alterations.

Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse is the most recognized of all the Disney characters, and this costume is great for both girls and boys. Dress your child up in black leggings or stretchy pants and a long sleeved black shirt, pull a pair of red shorts over the pants. Purchase a pair of stretchy winter gloves, found at dollar stores, and affix two paper or cloth circles to the front of the red shorts along the waist. For ears, snag a headband or ball cap and attach large black ears that can be cut out from poster board, if you don't already own a set of Mickey Mouse ears. All that is left to do is paint a black nose and whiskers on your child's face.

Pinocchio
Pinocchio is a great Halloween costume choice for toddler boys and because the puppet, Pinocchio is dressed up as a really boy, you might already have most of the pieces necessary to make this costume already in the closet. The clothing needed for a Pinocchio costume include a pair of red shorts, yellow t-shirt or polo, black vest and a blue bow tie. A brown or khaki colored similar to the one Pinocchio wore in the Disney movie can be customized with blue ribbon around the band and a brown feather stuffed into the ribbon. Use makeup to paint knees and elbows if you are doing the puppet version, or skip this step entirely if you are going for Pinocchio as a real boy.

The Incredibles
The Incredibles, also known as the Parr Family, offer a unified costume idea that the whole family can do together or little ones can pick and choose from. Luckily, there are both boys and a girl in the family, so this costume idea works great for a son or daughter, and even baby. You will need a red spandex suit, or long red pant or leggings and a tight red shirt, and black speedos for the main costume. Each family member also wears black boots and gloves, and a black eye mask, which you can find at any costume or craft store for a dollar or two. For the chest logo, a simple yellow i on a black background can be cut out from felt and sewn to childs shirt.

Woody and Jessie
Toy Story is one of the most popular recent movies from Disney and Pixar, and characters Woody and Jessie are very easy to create costumes for-- and work great for brother and sister costumes. Both Woody and Jessie are going to need blue jeans and boots as well as a cowboy hat, and a belt with large belt buckle. For Jessie a white or yellow button down cotton shirt is required, as well as black and white chaps, if you can find them. A Woody costume needs an orange or dark yellow plaid button down as well as a holstered toy gun in his belt and a red bandanna around his neck.

Each of these costumes works well when you only have minutes to come up with a costume or need several for different parties but don't have the money to spend on all of them. Have fun with it and Happy Halloween!

These are neat ideas. Although, I didn't see many children out this Halloween.
