Disney MGM Studios: Attractions (Pt 2)

Walt Disney World, the home of fun and magic. Disney World is divided into four theme parks, two water parks and lots of restaurants and hotels. This article will be covering the basics of Disney-MGM Studios.

Disney-MGM boasts some of the best and most thrilling attractions on the WDW property. Some people claim that the best attraction is located down Sunset Blvd in Disney-MGM. Here is the ride listing for the attractions. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock'n'Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, The Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour, The Great Movie Ride and Star Tours. This listing does not include the shows. That will be for a later article. This article will be covering The Great Movie Ride and Star Tours.

The Great Movie Ride: This is a very slow and cool dark ride. The entire ride is in the Mann's Chinese Theater, or a very good replica of it. On this ride you go through some of the most famous scenes of different movies. Singing in the Rain, Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz and Alien are just a few of the movies. This ride is also very well air conditioned and makes for a good rest off your feet during a long day. The other nice thing about this ride is that the lines are usually short or not even there.

So taking the family on a fun, relaxing and movie trivia type ride can be fun! Really though I love this ride not only for the knowledge you can obtain from this ride, but the amazing resemblance to the real actors and actresses the audio animatronics have. I recommend this attraction any time in the day as long as the wait time is under fifteen minutes. Otherwise wait for the lines to die down, the will.

Star Tours: This is the same and still classic Star Tours. Where anything and everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Captain Rex from the cockpit is a bundle of joy and mayhem. Some people want a new upgrade to the attraction. I agree, but I would also want to original version just for the nostalgia. This attraction is very tame and is great for getting little ones ready for rides like Space Mountain.

The lines here are usually non-existent and the ride is always running. I say you can ride this ride anytime during the day with a minimal wait in line. This ride does support Fastpass but I do believe I have heard the machines were removed. And for good reason, the lines are quick and there are eight simulation room running at any given time. There are warnings against back problems and people who might have seizures. Do be aware this ride is bumpy and lights are flashing quite a lot during the Star Tours experience.
