Disney MGM Studios: Shows Pt 3

Jon Sugi
The last article I wrote about the attractions at the Disney-MGM studios. This article will be covering the shows at the studios. This park is about equal in their ratio of shows to attractions. The Magic Kingdom favors the attractions. Epcot is about half and half and the Animal Kingdom favors more shows. However the cool thing about the shows at the studio are that they are a very high caliber production.

Muppet Vision 3-D, The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Sounds Dangerous-Starring Drew Carrey, The Magic of Disney Animation, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Playhouse Disney-Live on stage and Fantasmic. These shows along with the Tower or Terror and Rock'n'Roller Coaster make the price of admission well worth it. This article will be covering Playhouse Disney-Live on stage and Fantasmic.

Playhouse Disney Live on Stage: This is a live show that takes characters from Bear in the Big Blue House and other Playhouse Disney characters to make a great live show. I have not seen this show but I have read this show is great for your little ones. This is a show for kids to have fun and adults to get off their feet. Apparently this show is so popular that Disneyland has brought it over to their California Adventure.

Fantasmic: This show for people who have seen it needs no introduction. I do not know which park had this show first but both shows are amazing. If you are only in the mood or planning to see one show during your entire visit I suggest this show. The Disneyland version has no seats and has the guests find seats on the concrete or wherever they can see. The Walt Disney World version has a full outdoor theater.

This does cause some problems if it rains, obviously. But this show can have people sitting in line up to three hours before the doors open. I know that sounds crazy, but in all truth, this show is really worth the wait. The storyline follows Mickey Mouse and his dreams. He has good dreams and then nightmares.

In his nightmares he must face them and fight some of the Disney villains. This show is only 25 minutes but it feels so much longer. The show uses intricate costumes, lights, lasers, fireworks, dancers and some incredible floats. This show is for all ages, although there are some loud parts that might scare the little ones. I will say that this show is the best show Disney has ever put in a theme park. I do not suggest waiting for three hours, but I do suggest seeing the show.

There are some ways to get around the massive wait time, but it will cost some money. There was a deal where you purchase a meal at a set price. You get a full meal, salad or soup, dessert and reserved seats to Fantasmic. This was not a cheap deal but if you have the money and want a very good dinner and a show I would suggest looking into this offer.
