Disney Stars: Paper, Plastic, or Aluminum?

Bambi
There are a lot of young stars out there today, trying to pave their path into even more fame and fortune. One channel that has a lot of these young stars is the ever popular Disney channel. However, is the Disney channel doing these stars more harm than good? I think that it's definitely possible. Over the last few years, the Disney channel has been taking a few of their starlets, and recycling them. What do I mean by this exactly? I mean they take people from popular shows, and wring them out for all they are worth. Such as giving them a record deal, when they can't sing, but they know that it'll sell since they are popular on a certain Disney show.

For example, take Ashley Tisdale. 22 years old and a Disney star. She got popular on the hit Disney series 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,' she then got even more popular, again because of Disney in 'High School Musical.' Now she's got a CD out, Headstrong, but can she sing? Perhaps, but not nearly as well as half the people I know. She's been recycled by Disney, going from a popular television series, to a popular movie, to a brand new CD. The CD is made from Warner Brothers, right down the road from the Disney Studio. She got the CD because they know she'll be profitable. It has nothing to do with her having the talent for it.

Another starlet that has been recycled by Disney would be Brenda Song. She's 19, so not quite as old as Ashley Tisdale, but she's been recycled by Disney a little bit longer. She appeared in the 2002 Disney movie 'Get a Clue,' starring Lindsay Lohan. Unlike Lindsay though, Brenda doesn't have enough talent to get noticed for something other than Disney. She's made appearances on 'That's so Raven,' 'Phil of the Future,' and 'American Dragon: Jake Long.' She was also in the Disney movie 'Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior,' and now has a regular part on 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody' as the rich ditz, London Tipton.

Other examples of people recycled by Disney would be Raven, Kyle Massey, Christy Carlson Romano, etc. Pretty much every actor that became a Disney star, whether old or recent, has been recycled by Disney. They keep getting Disney roles, and will keep being a Disney star, and may never break off from it because it gives them the money they need to support themselves. A couple of stars who have broken from being Disney recyclables would be the famous Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. I can only hope a few more of these Disney stars will break off from the vicious cycle like they did, and realize that they have more potential. If they don't, I truly doubt that their careers will live too long. I think this cycle will do more damage than good.
