Disney Theme Park in Dallas, Texas?

Could the Entertainment Kings Really Land in the Big State of Texas?

Erik Wesley
Everything's bigger in Texas, right? It only makes sense then that the biggest, most wonderful Disney amusement park would be built in the state that makes daily grandiose claims about its super-sized culture. Jump on the bandwagon, boys: Mickey's 'a comin' to Dallas!

Or at least, this is the rumor that has been jumping around the Lone Star State for the past twenty years.

The Disney in Dallas Rumor:
Every few months the rumor that Disney is coming to Dallas, Texas resurfaces in a different form. Most of these come from a guy whose dad's cousin's wife's uncle signed on to build something for the theme park, or who "knows for a fact" that Disney has been buying up land north of Dallas in preparation for a big unveiling.

The only problem with the theme park in Dallas rumor is that, thus far, there has been no proof.

Is it viable?
A new resort in Dallas, Texas seems like a great idea. Already Disney has both coasts covered with their other two stateside parks. Dallas seems like the perfect solution for a third, centralized location for the biggest Disney theme park imaginable.

Dallas, Texas has two major airports in a region with over 6 million people, a growing economy, and some of the biggest population explosions in the United States. The flat tableland in Texas is well suited to any architectural plans the creative geniuses at Disney could think up. If they were to be building a new park anywhere in the United States, Dallas would be the most natural choice.

Is it confirmed?
When listening to these rumors about a new theme park in Dallas, Texas, it is important to realize that these are rumors of the highest caliber. On multiple occasions their corporate executives have denied completely that they have any plans for a Disney theme park anywhere else in the United States.

In fact, the entertainment giant has recently been cutting back on jobs and attractions stateside. It seems that no one is safe from the current recession, including big-eared mice.

Is it possible?
Mickey's people could be working on acquiring the land needed for a Dallas, Texas-based theme park under the proverbial radar to keep prices down and to prevent speculation that could cause chaos with stock prices. They have actually done this before when preparing to build Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

However, many things are possible, including a Google buyout of Disney that would grant the Internet giant control over every impressionable mind in the free world.

Look for the Disney in Dallas rumor to continue to circulate for twenty more years, or, at least, until Disney announces the opening of the Walt Disney Galaxy Resort in Prosper, Texas on December 21, 2012.

I think bringing Mickey into any state would cause an increase in spending, and turn this recession around!

Interesting rumor - Lord knows they certainly have plenty of 'space' in Texas.

I think we could solve this rumor real fast if we determined property owners of vast swaths of land north of DFW. ;)

A Google buyout of Disney...now that's something I've not heard of before. It would seem more natural for Apple to induce a takeover, since there is very good rapport between the latter and Pixar, for instance, as well as various mutual directors of boards.
