Disney World Dining: Il Mulino New York Trattoria at Disney World's Swan Resort

Il Mulino is an Italian restaurant located at the Swan Resort at Walt Disney World. Inspired by a restaurant.com coupon for this Disney World restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed both the meal and the entire dining experience. As a veteran diner of nearly all the restaurants at Walt Disney World, Il Mulino is now among my favorites.

Ambiance and Setting

The ambiance at Il Mulino is elegant without seeming too formal. The dining area is ample, though during prime dinner hours the dining room can be a bit noisy. The setting makes Il Mulino a great option for adult dining or a date, though the restaurant would also be a great choice for a family night out.

The Menu

The menu at Il Mulino is classic Italian, from the antipasti and calamari appetizers to traditional pasta dishes and parmigianas. Il Mulino's menu offers a large variety of menu choices, most of which are moderately priced. Antipasti appetizers and salads offer several starter options, with Arancini (Italian rice balls) priced at $8, an antipasta platter for 2 at $24, and salads large enough to share at $10.

Entree choices at Il Mulino offer numerous options for diners. Classic pasta dishes are priced between $21-$32, while a variety of meal-sized pizzas range from $16-18. Steak, chicken, pork, veal, and fish are all on the menu at Il Mulino, priced in the $20-$42 range, depending on the dish. The dessert menu offers gelato, sorbets, tiramisu and other Italian specialties for between $6 and $8. The Dining Experience

The dining experience at Il Mulino was ideal for trying a few different Italian specialties. The entrees seemed moderately priced for the quality of the food and the service. Since the entress do not come with salad or sides, I was able to split a salad ($10) with my dining companion. Our server brought 2 individual salads out to our surprise, each made individually. My choice of entree was the Chef's Special of the day for $24. The dish was amazing in flavor, with squash infused gnocci and a variety of flavors mixed in a rather large serving bowl. The other selection was Chicken Parmigiana, which turned out to be a very large whole chicken breast, tender and breaded with a homemade sauce. Both portions were large and satisfying, leaving us no room for attempting dessert.

One thing we both liked about the menu was the half portions available to order for many of the pasta dishes. In the future I look forward to trying more of the entrees at Il Mulino and this feature offers diners the chance to try a few dishes or share. The overall dining experience at Il Mulino was excellent, ranking at the top of Disney World finer dining restaurants.
