Disney World Dining: Todd English's Bluezoo

Upscale Dining for Adults

R. M. Dubuc
Todd English's Bluezoo restaurant at the Dolphin Resort at Walt Disney World Resort is an upscale dining experience that offers guests both ambiance and excellent menu choices. The number of dining choices at Walt Disney World can be overwhelming. Many table service restaurants are designed to appeal to families at Walt Disney World, with a select few restaurants which are more ideal for an adult dining experience. Bluezoo is an excellent choice for adults who want a date night or an upscale dinner with adult friends. Children are certainly welcome at Bluezoo, as evidenced by the children present on my last visit, but the majority of diners are couples or groups of adults.

Ambiance and Setting

The dining experience at Bluezoo is upscale. Decorative, artistic elements are present throughout the dining area. A raw bar and cocktail bar are located near the entrance and a unique fire pit area highlights the special fish of the day being cooked over the fire in complete form. Guests ordering the whole fish selection of the day can have their fish de-boned tableside by their server. Bluezoo has all the ambiance for a special occasion dinner or a date night.

The Menu

The menu at Bluezoo offers a variety of entrees for all tastes, but the highlighted specialty is the fish. The daily selection of fresh fish allows diners to choose they type of fish and a special sauce for $33. Bluezoo's This Evening's Dancing Fish (market price)is another excellent choice on the menu. The dancing fish are cooked whole over an open flame on skewers while they rotate and cook. The Chef's Pasta of the day is another tempting offering on the menu. Beef tenderloin ($42) and Dirty South Swordfish ($32) are other options, as well as a Parisian chicken dish and a Florida pork dish. The children's menu offers menu choices for kids from between $12-$16.

The Dining Experience

My most recent visit to Bluezoo was for a birthday celebration. The guest of honor chose the Chef's Table($79), a gourmet 5-course delight which included a variety of delicious samples of appetizers, fish and Kobe beef entrees, and a trio of desserts. My dinner choice was the Mahi Mahi fish ($33) which came with a mouthwatering sauce, small salad on the plate, and a vegetable. Our server was attentive and helpful with making our dinner choices for the evening. The setting was perfect for celebrating and the food was excellent. Since we made an early dinner reservation, the restaurant was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up with couples, a few convention groups, and a handful of families.

The dining experience at Bluezoo was excellent from start to finish. Adults who are looking for a brief escape from the Disney World theming and some adult time, will find this dining experience worth the time. Restaurant.com is currently offering $25 gift certificates to Bluezoo for $10, or less with an internet coupon code search.
