Upon entering the ride you'll find a queue area, which is made to represent the international space training center of the future. There's the briefing area where the ride is explained and where people are set up in groups to enter the ride. Mission Space is set up to be an expedition to Mars so each member of the group is given a job to do while in the shuttle. You will have to work together with your team in order to have a successful mission.
The seats tilt back, and the roar and vibration of the take off engines can be felt along with a significant pull that simulates the pull of the earth's gravity. Once you land and the ride ends, there's a small post-Mission Space ride area that has games suitable for all ages.
Mission Space isn't a ride for the faint of heart. It has 13 different warnings ranging from height minimum, motion sickness to warning people with high blood pressure, heart problems, back, and neck problems that this ride may not be suitable for them. Motion sickness is a common occurrence so bags are provided. However, taking a motion sickness relief pill before you go can eliminate the need for it.
A new addition to the ride is the option to bypass the centrifuge or spinning action of the ride. Simply let any of the cast members know before you get into queue and they will direct you to the non-spinning version of the ride. This can help with individuals who have issues with motion sickness.
The collaboration of NASA advisers, scientists, astronauts and the Walt Disney Imagineering team has created a ride that gives people the chance to experience an amazing view of the world and the feeling of space without leaving the planet. The outside of the ride is equally enjoyable with large planets, and a series of railed off areas to separate the various visitors, as well as provide updated wait times for the Mission Space ride itself in each one of the queue lines. And the attraction itself is an exciting trip through and well worth the experience.
