Disneyland and Disney World: Which Park to Visit?

Think if you've seen one Disney Park, that they're all the same? For travelers considering going to either Disneyland or Disney World, you may be tempted to think that each park resembles the other but that is only partially true. While both Disneyland and Disney World share some of the same attractions, each contain its own unique attractions. Depending on type of visit (very leisurely or educational), length of stay, preferred accommodations and time of year, Disneyland and Disney World can accommodate all vacationers' needs. On the west coast, Disneyland offers Disney's California Adventure, an amusement park of sorts celebrating the sunny state of California with a touch of Disney magic. The Hollywood Pictures Backlot has touches of Disney World's Hollywood Studios and "a bug's land" can induce reminiscing feelings for Disney's World's Animal Kingdom, but each Disney location, both in California and Florida offers something unique to the Disney traveler. Don't let these similarities stop you though from visiting both California and Florida (if able to) as each park offers other unique location-specific attractions.

Having trouble deciding which Disney Park to visit first? For the novice Disney traveler, it is recommended to visit Disneyland in California first before Disney World. This park is the oldest of all Disney attractions and one can appreciate Walt Disney's expansion and growth of ideas which evolved into Disney World after first seeing where all the Disney magic began in California.

If there is a toss-up between both visiting Disneyland and Disney World, the location of the parks also helps travelers plan their vacations more accordingly. While Disneyland is much smaller in size, Disney World offers more parks and activities, and takes at least twice as long to explore. This also offers a bit if limitations in booking last-minute, on-site hotels; so if looking to visit and stay at Disneyland California, plan accordingly and book early.

Last-minute travelers can easily find a room on-property at Disney World thanks to the diverse offering of hotels, both Disney-owned and partnership hotels. From Disney's Swan and Dolphin to the Downtown Disney Resorts, there are plenty of accommodations close to every Theme Park and attraction. Take note though: when interested in booking there are "seasons": value, regular, peak and holiday. Value season is best so be sure to try to book a room during that season, as only the most expensive rooms can be available on a holiday.

Finally, diversity is the key when visiting both Disneyland and Disney World. If looking to combine an educational experience with fun and excitement; prioritize your vacation. Epcot and Animal Kingdom at Disney World are the most educational parks while Disney's Hollywood Studios and The Magic Kingdom are Disney's fun-filled parks. Likewise, at Disneyland, if looking to receive an education on the state of California while having fun, Disney's California Adventure offers a bit of both, or if looking to head straight to the fun, Disneyland is the place to go.
