1. Eat at the Blue Bayou. This amazing restaurant is located right inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. The themeing and ambiance are beautiful. While riding on the ride you will pass this restaurant which appears to be an evening dinner party taking place on the banks of the Bayou. The menu contains Cajun inspired cuisine. The lunch menu is slightly less expensive. The favorite menu item is the Monte Cristo. This decadent sandwich is only served at lunch time. Keep in mind that the ambiance is just as lovely in the afternoon as it is at dinner time. Other favorites include Isla Cruces Crab Cakes, Five-Pepper Roasted Prime Rib, and Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya. Vegetarian dishes are available. They charge a split plate fee if you choose to share your entrée. The Blue Bayou takes reservations. Call the Disney Reservation Line(714-781-3463) thirty days in advance to get good seating. Mention that it is your honeymoon and ask if they can seat you at the water's edge.
2. Take a nighttime ride on the Sun Wheel. This sixteen story ferris wheel in Disney's California Adventure has amazing views. Make sure you choose a stationary gondola. The ones that swing and slide don't go as high and are designed more for a thrilling ride rather than a sight seeing romantic one. You might try timing your ride so you can be on the ferris wheel during the firework show at the Disneyland park. The Sun Wheel often does not operate during firework shows located on the water at Paradise Pier in Disney's California Adventure since the lights on the ride are part of the show.
3. People watch in New Orleans Square. When you feel like taking a break from riding rides there are plenty of places to sit in New Orleans Square. Pick up a drink from the Mint Julep Bar and find a bench on the streets or in a hidden courtyard. There is usually a band playing either on one a balcony or in the streets. The music is very festive and sets the mood for the French Quarter perfectly. There are other street performers like mimes that are fun to watch while they interact with children and other guests. Although the streets are usually busy and about as crazy as a Mardi Gras festival; people watching in New Orleans Square is very relaxing.
4. Have a picture made for a keepsake. There are Disney Cast Member photographers located throughout both parks. They are happy to either take your picture with their cameras or with yours. If they use their camera you can buy your picture at the Main Street Photo Supply Co. The traditional spots are in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle or with Mickey in his movie barn. Having a photo taken can be a fun keepsake to remember your honeymoon. A twist on this is to find one of the artists that sketch your portrait in New Orleans Square. Tell them it is your honeymoon and have them date the drawing.
5. Dine at the Napa Rose. The award winning Napa Rose is located in the Grand Californian Hotel. The cuisine is inspired by California's Napa Valley. They have an impressive menu that varies by season. Their wine list and their service are amazing. This is the place for fine dining on the Disneyland Resort. Reservations are highly recommended. Call the Disney Reservation Line at (714-781-3463).
Remember that the Disneyland Resort offers both fun and romantic things to do on your honeymoon. Don't miss doing any of the things on this list.
