Disney's 2006 Movie Cow Belles Will Teach Your Kids Much More Than Paris and Nicole Ever Could!

Teaches the Positive Messages that Other TV Shows Are Lacking

Suzanne Rose
I believe Disney made the movie "Cow Belles" to counteract the horrible influence Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie's show "The Simple Life" may have had on any kids that saw it. Cow Belles is a lot like The Simple Life in that two spoiled rich girls are forced to hard-labor. The difference is that Paris and Nicole never learned anything from working and only made a joke of it whereas the girls in Cow Belles do learn things and therefore this is a great movie for kids to watch!

Your kids may not be rich, but if you think they may be spoiled in the least this movie will teach them to think of others instead of only thinking of themselves. Kids of all ages, but especially teens, should enjoy the antics of the film. As an adult, I was slightly annoyed by some of the cheesy things that the girls do, but I think kids and teens would be able to relate to the way they talk and act.

Plot
Taylor and Courtney are two spoiled rich teens. Their father runs a dairy factory and they have been pretty much set with everything they need. At the start of the movie, their cooking is interrupted by a phone call to go out with their friends! Yay! They throw in the towel and take off - literally - they throw the towel onto the stove! When they come back from a fabulous day, there are fire trucks everywhere.

Cut to inside where the girls are getting yelled at by their father for burning the kitchen down. It's a total mess! He tells them they are going to have to learn to be more responsible and they will start by working at the dairy the following morning. Ick! Hard labor? No way! The girls come in with plenty of ideas of how to make things better, but no one is too impressed. In fact, they are down right mean. A few "accidents" and many lost production hours later and the girls are finding work to be much tougher than expected.

Then the worst thing happens, a lot of money has gone missing and their father is out of town so no one knows what to do. The girls are forced to figure out a way to pay the workers before they quit - and to try and find out where the money went! In the meantime, they have to avoid fighting with each other - and Courtney has to finish planning her big party with her friends. How will they ever be able to pull it all off? You'll have to see!

Actors
Alyson Michalka .... Taylor Callum
Amanda Michalka .... Courtney Callum

Yes they are sisters! Alyson is best known for her role as Keely in Phil of the Future, with Amanda only being known for the music videos the pair has on Disney. The two make a perfect match because they really are sisters! Both girls are pretty ditzy and it's obvious they know nothing about the "real world" at the start of the movie. Alyson's character is the more well-rounded one as she is the first to start thinking of other people and seems to see there is more to life then herself. Her sister is meant to be the more overly snobby one and the purpose of this is to show how some people do think about only themselves. Will Taylor convince Courtney that life isn't just about a party? Watch and see!

The workers at the plant were very well casts in all their respective roles. They were not very happy with these two teens coming in and slowing down their work day in the start and it took a long while before they even came close to accepting them. These workers also learned some lessons in the movie about pre-judging people so everyone can learn something from this!

Lessons: If you'd rather be surprised, skip this section
The sisters learn the value of a hard days work! Eventually. But more than that they learn the value of those employees whose lives rely on these jobs. They are no longer going to take for granted the work that their dad does nor the work of the dairy factory workers.

The workers will learn some too (yes even adults can learn lessons). They really don't like the girls when they meet them and they think these ditzy chicks can't possibly have anything to offer to them. Even after the girls do a few selfless acts, it still takes a lot for some of them to come around. The girls teach them the value of not giving up and also of not pre-judging anyone. Just because someone was raised differently doesn't mean they are bad people.

Some of the girls friends learn a few lessons as well, although it's kind of weird how that just happens. Considering how rude these friends were through out the movie, you would expect they wouldn't easily come around. You'll have to see for yourself who comes around and when if you really want to understand what I mean. (I'm trying not to ruin it)

Conclusion
If your kids have ever seen an episode of the Simple Life, make sure you show them this movie!! Paris and Nicole would have people believe that doing hard labor is just for laughs and making jokes - but Taylor and Courtney will show your kids the true meaning of hands-on work! It is also a good film for anyone who has watched MTVs "My Super Sweet 16" as the whole point of that show is about over the top parties, and in this movie Courtney is trying to plan one of those expensive parties as well (which to her is the most important thing in the world). Will she ever learn that it's just a party?

It's a comedy-drama and they will get quite a few laughs along with the lessons. Adults may role their eyes a few times, but I still enjoyed it overall. These 2 girls are great together and I hope to see them making more movies in the future. Enjoy!
