Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Nov. 15-27, 2011 - Ft. Lauderdale, Fl
The magic of Disney is alive and well and returning to the Broward Center with its smash Broadway hit, Beauty and the Beast. With the animated film's Academy Award-winning score, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman (with additional songs with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice) this musical extravaganza is a must see for all ages.
The original creators of the Broadway production have come together again for this new touring production. The play is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West. Costume design by Ann Hould-Ward (Tony Award winner for Disney's Beauty and the Beast), lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by John Petrafesa Jr., scenic design by Stanley A. Meyer, and music supervision by Michael Kosarin.
The story is a classic one: a young woman from a small town, Belle, is unexpectedly introduced to a young handsome prince trapped in a spell, the Beast. Of course she has no idea of his true identity or the fate that has befallen him. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be returned to his former true self. But alas, if the Beast can not transform himself with a specific matter of time he and his household full of colorful characters will be doomed for all eternity.
