Disney's Hollywood & Vine Playhouse Breakfast

Great for Toddlers

Amanda M. Rose
In October of 2008, my son, who at the time was 16 months old, and I headed off to Walt Disney World, for a wonderful 6 days with the Mouse. During this trip, I had made reservations for many different character meals so that I would be able to sit down and eat a meal, while my son was being entertained; an idea that I am sure saved my sanity throughout this trip. I had done my research on the internet through several different websites and choose to have breakfast at Hollywood & Vine's Playhouse Character Breakfast for our day at Hollywood Studios. This breakfast includes four different characters, which at the time of our trip were Jo Jo and Goliath from Jo Jo's Circus and Leo and June from Little Einstein's.

From the research I had done through several different popular Disney websites, I found that there were a huge amount of bad reviews on this restaurant. There were complaints from people complaining of the buffet being overpriced for the quality and selection of the food available, the service being slow and poor, and the restaurant being loud. I was very apprehensive about this restaurant, but decided to give it a try because one of the few shows I allow my son to watch is Little Einstein's each morning while we eat breakfast.

The breakfast was not at all like any of the reviews that I had read online. Unfortunately for the restaurant, it was obvious that it wasn't only me who had done research and read the bad reviews on the internet, there was only 6 or 7 other families in the restaurant, and it was before rope drop, which is a popular time for the in-park Character breakfasts. The service and the characters couldn't have been any nicer or polite. Our server actually offered to sit with my son, while I went up to the buffet to get our breakfast. The characters came by several times, and spent a considerable amount of time playing with my son, feeding him his food, playing hide and seek and playing cars on the table. The music was terrific for kids, and my son and the other children that were there had a great time singing and dancing with the characters. This is a great photo opportunity for all parents and a great time to get video clips.

The breakfast buffet was perfectly fine, and I found that it had a good selection of breakfast foods. Hollywood & Vine does not offer the same selection that restaurants like Boma does, but it does offer, your traditional breakfast fare of yogurts, cereals, grits, oatmeal, sausage, bacon, waffles, pancakes, etc.

For our trip this coming fall, we will be stopping by at Hollywood & Vine again, and will probably continue doing so until my son has outgrown the Disney Playhouse Characters.

It sounds like you found a hidden gem. We are going to Hollywood & Vine for dinner on our next trip - then we'll catch Fantasmic. But with kids, buffets are nice since they can usually find something that they are willing to eat.
