Finding the Best Moderate Resort Room for Your Trip

Christine Hardenberger
The Disneyworld Moderate Resorts are an excellent choice when traveling to Disney. They offer larger rooms than the Value Resorts with more amenities on-site, such as table service restaurants and elaborately themed pools. When you book at these Disneyworld Resorts, you have a much greater choice of rooms than when you book at the Value Resorts. You will have the option of Standard View, River View, Water View, Preferred Rooms and, in some cases, themed rooms. Whew! It can be very confusing! Here is what to expect from each of the room categories at these Disneyworld resorts:

Standard View

These are the lowest price rooms at the Moderate Resorts. They offer views of the hotel, courtyard or gardens. A great choice if you aren't planning to spend a lot of time at the resort.

Water View

At Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs, you have the option of a Water View room. The room layout is the same as the Standard View but you will have a view of the lake or pool. Yes, they count the pool as a Water View!

River View

At the Port Orleans resorts (both French Quarter and Riverside) offer rooms with views of the River. Again, the same layout as Standard View rooms but you can watch the boats go by. Very relaxing!

Preferred Rooms

If you are looking for a room close to the main building (great if you have little ones who hate to walk!), try Preferred Rooms . You will be in the buildings closest to the food court and busses!

Pirate Rooms

For an extra special experience, try the Pirate Rooms at Caribbean Beach. These rooms are completely decorated in a Pirates of the Caribbean theme! The beds are pirate ships, the chest of drawers is a stack of pirate chests, the reading lamps are ships' lanters and the curtain between the vanity area and the room is a tattered pirate flag. Great for your little pirate!

Now, here are some tips for scoring the best Moderate room:

At Port Orleans Riverside: The closest buildings to the bus depots in Magnolia Terrace are Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace or Alligator Bayou buildings 24, 34 and 37 .

Lost in the Alligator Bayou? Look for the gray, cement boardwalk. It will lead you to the Sassagoula River.

At Port Orleans French Quarter: For a quiet river view room, ask for Buildings 1 or 6.

As you can see the Moderate Disneyworld resorts offer room choices to suit any budget and vacation dream. Which will you choose?
