Disputes on the 4th of July Lead to Deadly Shootings

The 4th of July sees many families and friends out celebrating. Backyard BBQs, city hosted fairs and fireworks displays. For many this holiday comes off without a hitch. All to return home safe and worn out from all the festivities. But for some this year, disputes turned deadly.

According to the Associated Press, one home's party in Cleveland, Ohio, turned deadly when a neighbor opened fire, killing three and wounding two others. Of the victims dead were two men and a woman all of whom were in their 20s. The surviving victims were a man with a shot to the elbow and a woman with a wound to her hand.

Terrance Hough Jr., a 35-year-old off-duty firefighter had been arrested in connection with this deadly shooting. Charges have yet to be filed against Hough because of police still gathering evidence as speaking with witnesses.

In previous years the police had been called over loud parties and such in connection with the house the victims had been shot at. Some of those previous complaints had come from Hough's address. This year though no one called the police about this party.

A police officer who lived nearby had heard the shots and responded upon which he placed Hough under arrest. A handgun that is believed to have used was found among a dozen guns at the home.

Another shooting left a man dead near Seattle, Washington. According to the Associated Press, more than 100 people had been present when two men got into a dispute around 11:30 pm. The man that had been shot died after aid workers had felt threatened by a hostile crowd. A spokesman for county Fire District 20, David Nelson had said that they quickly took the wounded man out to continue CPR.

It is unclear if whether moving the man prior to CPR had anything to do with aiding his death.

More tragedy struck on the 4th of July when another shooting left one dead and several wounded. According to WMCTV, Memphis police are investigating a shoot-out at a party that took place at the Commons Apartments on South Parkway. A fight had broke out in which shots were fired, hitting six people.

Among the victims wounded are an elderly woman who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, a 10 year old and a 15 year old. None of the victims have been identified yet.

The police have a person that they are questioning but have not stated whether the person is a suspect yet or not.

Does this really have any connection with the 4th of July? There are more shootings than that every day of the year.
