You and your opponent have two things that act as their health. Bravery and HP. Pressing the circle button doesn't do any damage to your opponent's HP, but to their bravery. Their bravery is the number of hit points that your opponent losses when you attack him with your square button. If you attack their bravery, their bravery goes down and your bravery goes up, like you're stealing it. You can run around in the arena you're in, walk up walls and grind on rails and attack your opponent.
You have one attack that acts as a limit break, called EX mode. In EX mode, just use an HP attack and you will launch your super move, EX Burst. These EX burst differ from each character, but normally having you to keep pressing a certain button combination. If your opponent launches their move, you're going to have to keep pressing the circle button to boost your defense, which is a lot harder than it sounds. To do this move, you're going to have to find an EX core which is somewhere in the battle field before your opponent does. The EX core may not appear right away.
There are 4 battles you have to do in order to beat the demo. However, you get addicted fast and will keep playing. At the end of each battle there will be a slow motion effect on the finishing blow, it's really cool and makes you want to try your favorite attack just so see it happen in slow motion. If you die, there's always an option to retry, so don't worry if you're not good at first, you will improve.
This game is really fun, and really gets you psyched for the final version. The demo is available free of charge if you go onto your PSP with a wifi connection, go to the PlayStation Network store, demos, Dissidia Final Fantasy. Enjoy!
