Distance Learning: Earning Your College Degree Online
How Attending an Online College Can Earn You a Real Degree and Help You Climb the Corporate Ladder
During the application process I learned that the Axia College was started in the mid 1990s and is a derivative of the University of Phoenix located in Arizona. While the University of Phoenix is a larger brick-and-mortar school, they also are able to educate students through their online school. The school is accredited by the government and you will actually be earning a real degree. You attend classes and do lots of bookwork and projects, just like at a traditional school, except for your classroom is online.
The online college works differently than a traditional classroom. You use online forums to turn in your work and chat with other students. You can be critiqued by other students and you can critique them. There is a place to check in for your attendance and another forum for questions. All of the course material is online and you can either print it out or download it to your computer. Class sizes are pretty small, only about 15-20 students per class and the instructors are located all over the United States. I currently have an instructor in Florida, who also teaches at two colleges in Florida, and another in New Orleans, who teaches in an elementary school. My classmates are made up of all types of people, the very young to some older students, some that are working on their second degrees and many that are just beginning. This is an easy transition from not having been to school in a while to starting back up. At Axia College you take two courses at a time for a nine week period. Every class has a project for the nine weeks and you have two or more assignments a week. There are many books and articles to read, so this is not just a college to blow off!
The University of Phoenix online offers many different degree choices, from an accounting degree to a degree in criminal justice. You can go for an Associates degree in Arts or finish up your Masters degree in Business. They have awesome flexibility in choices. You can take courses at any time, you just need to log in and complete your work.
Everyone can start back up at college just by taking a look at the University Of Phoenix. You can go to their website, www.phoenix.edu to find out more about them and start an application. There are counselors that you will be assigned when enrolling and then when classes start you will also receive an academic counselor to help you through the rest of your classes. They are great to have on hand for questions and guidance if you are not sure of taking classes online.
If you do not have time to sit in school for hours upon hours, then this is a great option for you. The University Of Phoenix Online can be a great choice for anyone who wants to go back to school, you just have to make sure you are prepared for some hard work!

Post a CommentI only have one toddler but I got my Masters this way while working full time. :)
Good info -- I've always wondered if this was a scam. Good to know it's not.
In NY state an online college called Empire State gives a student amazing flexibility with their degree plans. Psychology is an exception due to strict course requirements and certain degrees aren't offered but they are very wide ranging. My G/F got her bachelors from there.
I'm very proud of you with two little boys to make the effort of going back to school. Good luck with making your life better.
My husband works for an online college, they are completely legitimate and a good way for those already in the work force or even stay at home moms to earn degrees. Great article.
