Production on this album began back in 2007, and Disturbed began to hype the album towards the end of the year. When the album finally hit shelves this last June 3rd, Disturbed found their previous success carried with them onto the new album. Indestructrible features Disturbed's most emotional, darkest, and powerful songs yet. The heaviness does not match The Sickness, however the goal the band had with this album was to mix elements of the past with the present.
All of the songs present on the album are rich with meaning, which comes to no surprise to any fans of the band. The rhythm of the songs are easy to follow, recognize, and enjoy. Each song is rich in melody, in harmony, and enticing music. The songs pull you in and really let you apply the song to your own life or situations you face.
Indestructible follows a theme that no matter what one is put up against, no matter how many odds one faces, no matter how many people oppress one, that one person can always stand up and fight and be indestructible. The album is meant to pump listeners up and make them feel indestructible when against all odds. This varies from conflicts in personal relationships to being a soldier in war. The power of the music pumps the blood, while the lyrics of the songs express deep pain and suffering, trapped in darkness, yet being a force not to be reckoned with.
There are songs on this album that fans of different rock genres can enjoy. Songs such as "Criminal", "Divide", and "Perfect Insanity" are rather heavy for fans of hard rock or metal music. "Haunted", "Enough", and "Inside the Fire" are all upbeat and racy songs about depression and deep suffering that are twisted into a dark fashion. "Indestructible", "The Curse", and "Facade" are upbeat, fast, and powerful songs that let the listener just jump into the song at any point and automatically get into the rhythm, the melody, and the presentation of the song.
Lead singer of the band, David Draiman, wrote these songs whilst in a depressed state and suffering from various and serious hardships. However, the frontman has expressed his indestructible will and an unbreakable will to move on and make it through. The track "Indestructible" is supposed to fit the mentality of soldiers, however the lyrics can be uplifting for people even in David's shoes. "I'm indestructible, determination that is incorruptible, from the other side a terror to behold, annihilation will be unavoidable, every broken enemy will know that their opponent bends to be invincible, take a last look around while you're alive, I'm an indestructible master of war!"
Every title on the album features a guitar solo (except for "Haunted", which can be either good or bad, depending on the fan listening to the music. While some of the solos are impressive, the idea of having them on every song but one makes the album feel more repetitive than it should be. The longest running solo is the one featured on the track "The Night", which pulls in several different parts. The consistent solos can lead to possible fast forwarding to avoid listening to them repeatedly, however they flow well with the song and therefore do not stand out negatively too much.
Overall, the album is great for any fan of the band, as it comes with a combination of older and newer elements of the previous records. The album features heavy music that is melodic, and powerful singing that harmonizes over the notes of the music. The songs are powerful, deep, rich in meaning, exhilarating, dark, and addicting. Any fan of the band will definitely enjoy this album, and any fan of rock music should definitely give this record a shot.
