Overall Review: This is one of my favorite albums. It's the first Disturbed album I've ever purchased, and I am definitely pleased. It's not like Disturbed's normal sound, but it's not far off their previous works. It seems like they're trying something new here, like they're trying not to be as heavy as they used to but they still keep a great sound. I highly reccomend this album to any alternative rock fans or even metal fans alike. It may not please metal fans as much, but this is the kind of album that can really appeal to any rock fan.

Track Reviews:

Ten Thousand Fists - Starts out slow, then the drums set in. Then it soon after goes to what you expect from Disturbed: great guitar. This track is somewhat different from what you're used to hearing from Disturbed, as is almost the entire album. The lyrics are great and easy to listen to (if you like rock, but I don't see why you'd be listening to this album is you didn't...). David Draman's voice really helps it out, because I don't think many other people can really pull this kind of music off. Overall good track for a title track. Good sound, great guitar, somewhat fast paced, but not too much.

Just Stop - My favorite track on this album. Like Ten Thousand Fists, it starts out slow, then you hear the guitar. The tempo of this song changes frequently, but it's never a random tempo every time. It only really changes when it goes to the chorus, but that's usually the case in most songs. This is mostly a slower song, but don't let that let you down, it's great. The lyrics are my favorite out of all the songs, if you really listen to them. They sound good as well, but again, this is one of those song I think only David could pull off. Great track, slower but still my favorite, and again... awesome guitar.

Guarded - This song starts out immediately, heavy on the guitar. This, much like Ten Thousand Fists, is definitely a new sound for Disturbed. It starts out sounding like your old Disturbed, but then it turns into something you'd hear come from Godsmack. The tempo of this song also changes quite a bit, but not much. It's quite a fast paced song.

Deify - Starts with quotes of political figures, and George Bush. He sings about what seems like getting revenge on someone that is seen as a God (I don't see how the George Bush quotes come into play with this :P ). This is kind of like their old sound. Good guitar, lots of drum, and Draman's distinct voice. Overall good song, I just don't like it when musicians throw their political views into their music (if that's even what he's talking about).

Stricken - Probably the first song you've heard off this album. It's popular on the radio, but I can't blame them. It's a great song. It's much like the old Disturbed we know. Heavy, heavy guitar and drums in the back. If you like any of Disturbed's older stuff, this is probably the song you'll like the most on this album.

I'm Alive - This is a heavier song, but it's nots, eh, deep. If that makes any sense. It's heavy, but its not reaaallly heavy. Lots of guitar, but that's Disturbed for you. The lyrics are good, but it doesn't sound like something that came from Disturbed. Sounds like your average rock band stuff, just being played by a great rock band. I'm sure this song wouldn't be as good if it weren't being played by Disturbed.

Sons Of Plunder - This is definitely the Disturbed you're used to. Fast guitar, and good lyrics. The lyrics are quite ironic though, he sings about how he's sick of "this new sound" all around him, yet they seem to have a pretty new sound themselves. All irony aside, this is definitely not like their newer stuff. Good song if oyu like the old Disturbed. Hell, it's a good song anyways.

Overburdened - Starts out slow, with a "big" voice speaking in the background, then starts to get a bit more into the music. This is a much slower song. Less guitar then you're used to hearing from Disturbed. This song is good, but its not really what you'd think would be in an album coming from a band called "Disturbed". It's really not their sound, new or old. I'm not saying it's a bad change, but it's not what you expect.

Decadence - Starts quite but fast, and slowly gets louder, then you hear Draman and the guitar hits. Again, another song thats like the old Disturbed. I know, I know, at this rate we won't have any songs that aren't like the "new" Disturbed, but these all have a slightly new sound. Something I can't quite put my finger on, but it's good. Anyways, this song too has an alternating tempo, from quite fast, to not so fast. This is another of my favorite songs on this album. I really like the guitar here.

Forgiven - This is a good song, but the lyrics just bug me. Not the content of the lyrics, but the sound of them. I don't know why, they just do. Don't make this let you thin that it's a bad track though, because it's not. It's got a great sound, and the drums finally get a bigger part.

Land Of Confusion - Whoa. That's the first thing you'll think when you hear this song. Yes, it's a cover of the old Genesis song. The whole time you'll be asking yourself "is this Disturbed?". It's a good song, but it's just not something you'd expect to hear from Disturbed. This is like, something you'd hear played right after Justin Timberlake or 50 Cent on your stereotypical mainstream radio station. Alright, mayhbe not quite those two, but just try and imagine the equivalent of them about 20 years ago, it's like that. It's still a good song, but it's just not Disturbed... At all. It's just weird. Great track if you're looking for something different.

Sacred Lie - Starts out different, like the theme of an old SNES game or something, then hits the guitar quick. This is a faster song, with a really good sound. Not very long, but it's still good. The lyrics are good in both content, and sound. Another of my favorite songs. Eh, there's really not much more to explain this song.

Pain Redefined - The lyrics of this song are kind of fast paced, but the song itself isn't. I really can't explain it, but if you heard it you'd know what I mean. This is one of the better tracks though, the sound is kind of unique, while still sounding like Disturbed.

Avarice - Starts out very fast, with a cool sound. The whole song itself is fast actually, but it's really the music and not the lyrics. Another short song, this is still good. The overall sound of this song is vrey distinct. Again, it's different, but not for the worst.

Overall Rating: 9/10 Great album. Good for any person that wants a new rock album for their collection. Should be appealing to any rock fan.
