First, take a look around your house and see what pieces and parts you can use in your bathroom to give the Diva look: Do you have any sheer or silky fabrics in pink or silver, maybe an old feather boa? Is there a curlicue bistro set on your patio? How about a string or two of Christmas lights you aren't using? Clear or white bulbs work best for Diva Decorating. A small bedside lamp, with shade?
Diva Basics
When you are thinking out your Divine Diva plan, consider the words glamour, glitz, pink, bling, star, and fancy.
Outline your mirror with white bulb lights - a string of white or clear mini-lights will do fine and are cheap! Or, look around in your attic for an old string of the larger Christmas bulbs. For safety, Use sticky gum poster gum to secure the string of lights around the edge of the mirror and be sure to leave the plug end near the outlet. And, now you have your Diva Reflections Mirror.
To quickly get the glitzy look going in your Diva Bathroom, do up a Diva Shower Curtain first. Take a plain white sheet - queen size and dye it pink, if you can't find the right color pink in a ready made queen size flat sheet. Use black and silver fabric paints to create your own design; 'frou frou' goes well with the Diva theme, things like perfume bottles with atomizers, high heel shoes, etc. You can also purchase a stencil from any crafts store. Purchase an inexpensive shower curtain liner and put both on the shower rod, using cheap metal shower curtain hangers you have glitzed up by threading large hole beads and baubles onto the metal hangers. Make shower curtain tiebacks out of a short length of inexpensive black feather boa purchased at a costume and display store for a couple bucks, and wow!, your Diva Décor Bathroom is already looking glitzy! Save a foot or two of the black feather boa for a finishing touch on your 'star' lamp.
Find an inexpensive (read: cheap) small bedside lamp and decorate the lampshade with leftover black feather boa, sequins, beads and bits of feather. Use a low watt bulb and remember, pink lamp bulbs make the skin glow. If you are feeling particularly creative, wrap the lamp base in a delicate or outrageous fabric. Seal the fabric well with mod podge, sealing any seams. Your Diva Light can be a great nightlight and attractive accessory in your Diva Décor Bathroom.
And, how about the furniture? Take a yard of lacey pink or otherwise frou frou fabric and line your linen shelves, and make or buy an inexpensive seat cushion for your bistro chair, which is now going to be your Diva Throne! Use a Rust-o-leum type spray paint to paint the cast iron or even plastic bistro chair white, pink, or black. Top it with the cushion, and you are set to sit!
One last creative idea is to glue flat backed marbles in your Diva colors around the edge of the countertops and anywhere else you will enjoy the mini-reflective colors. I glue a handful in the corner of the medicine cabinet mirror, and a whole line of them around the top edge of the countertop. Use a thick non-drip silicone glue so that you can easily peel them off when you redecorate with another fun theme. The last time I went to the crafts store, there were 32 colors and shapes of glass marbles, so you have plenty to choose from.
The final touches for your Diva Décor Bathroom are the usual accessories (toothbrush holder, hand mirror, brush and comb set, liquid soap dispenser, rug set, toilet seat cover, etc.) and you can find these inexpensively at dollar stores and all the 'mart' stores. A brand new set of coordinating bath towels, a few color-coordinated candles and soaps, and you are done! So, now, run a bubble bath, light the candles, and enjoy your Diva Décor Bathroom!
