Divisible by None Seeks Independent Artist Success
Chronicles of DBN Taking it to the Top of the Charts: Vol. 1
Skipping ahead another 10 years and a good number of groups later, I was lucky enough to find myself accepting an invitation to join a real band. Divisible By None (DBN) had a following from two years playing in and around Oklahoma City. They graced the stages of local bars and clubs eager to hear new talent. By the time this band asked me to join, I had already built friendships with the members, manager, and others connected to the group. Having a band of my own during these early times of Divisible By None, I was fortunate to have crossed paths at a show where DBN played with my band Catalyst at the time.
For about a year after this fateful meeting, I enjoyed the company of these talented fellows and eventually felt as if we had been lifelong friends. It seemed as if I had finally found that right combination of players with talent and dedication to their craft! They never lacked determination or motivation, and had already earned the title brother in my book. So, of course, I accepted the invite to join them and their cause, once the offer was on the table. Going to most of their performances had trained me for the spot, and despite a horrible breakup with my previous musical project, I was happy to rebound back with a more meaningful push at making a statement lacking subtlety, and full of energy capable of hypnotizing crowds a plenty.
Two years heavy in this project has been a great blessing in my life. For the first time, I feel like I have a whole new family to journey through life with. I'm playing all my card to the best of my ability, and laying everything I've got on the line for this great group of musicians. As and independent artist we have to tackle more tasks than just writing songs, honing our musicianship, and playing live performances. We also have to maintain our internet presence, find places to play, promote those shows, record our music, and maintain our equipment. Needless to say there are lots of different aspects to arriving at the top of the charts.
We hope that 2009 is the year where all our sacrifices will start to pay off in some way. It would be a major leap forward for us to at least maintain the upkeep to our gear. We play as many shows as Oklahoma City can sustain, and soon we will be moving beyond the borders of this state to play neighbouring hot spots for the music industry. With one little push, we are poised to capitalize on our efforts taken over the course of all our lives. I've been working on this goal for about 12 years myself, and that's only a fraction of how many years my lead guitar player has chasing the dream.
Al Gomes of Bignoisenow.com and Divisible By None have joined forces to penetrate the uppermost echelons of the music industry. With 20 years of working with artist to reach their goals, we all felt strongly that Big Noise was the right direction. All we need is a little boost of industry awareness before rock and roll historians begin writing their first page about Divisible By None. Some would consider this a pretty good start, but stay aware of our progress this year so you can be on the ground floor as this operation takes it to the stars!
